ESPN Stafford vs Sanchez argument

Some of you remember that back in the day there were arguments that Sanchez was a better QB than Stafford. Well, we all know that is not the case....Sanchez sucks! Now, here is a good question. Would the Lions be better off today if they HAD taken Sanchez? At least the Jets know where they stand. They can move along. The Lions have a gun slinging turnover prone QB that they have to over pay for the next 5 years and nothing to show for it.

Need to try something different. If they are commited to Stafford like they say they are....then they need to try a new OC or HC that has the reputation to improve their qb play. Linehan/Stafford is doing great at putting up yards....and that's about it. Offense is good in spurts, but is horribly inconsistent and way too turnover prone. Its a big enough sample size now to see it is what it is...and its not very good. I like the Bill Obrien idea the more I think about it. If they try a new OC/HC and staff still isn't progressing then you know its time to dump him and move on. But ya I think you try a new OC first before you move staff. Monetarily you have to, but also cause we don't have a high caliber option to replace him. Shaun Hill is like the opposite of high caliber.

As far as the sanchez argument goes...geno smith is playing over him....that basically says all u need to know.

And the Lions typcially don't get much defensive help. So all the points is usually on Stafford to make on LONG fields.

I know...I was just messing around. If the coaching staff doesn't get fired I will root against the Lions next year!

they had 7 points midway thru the 3rd quarter.

Yeah your one half sample is so smart to use. Rolls eyes. 25.9 with little defensive help. More than the Saints by the way. They would score 30 PPG plus with Tampa/Seattles turnover forcing defense.

Haha! I bet Sanchez would be around for the same amount of time here that Stafford will be. The same way there might be one drive in the next two games that's gonna keep Schwartz around for next year. And he doesn't have the stones to fire his buddies. I hope we're not screwed next year, cause we know linehan will only dial up the plays long enough for people to leave him alone. And Gunther just sucks.

Why even bring this up? Looking to start a fight? lol ;)

Stafford is going nowhere. He's played brutal the last 5 games or so but he is the franchise. He just needs to make better decisions. He hasnt regressed. He's obviously in a funk and needs to get out of it. Stop ptetending that the Jets are smart and know where they stand. That franchise is a fn joke.

And dont tell me the Lions have nothing to show for drafting Stafford. He's shatterring records and has done a great job with this offense. This is a team sport and the TEAM lost these games, not just Stafford. Stafford is struggling right now and he needs support. Thetes not going to be a QB controversy, they are not bringing in another QB and they are not drafting one either. Stop the madness for fuck sakes....

oh we get it...but IFFFFF we bring in a new HC/OC and he still sucks....then you have to get rid of him. Its a win now league.

I've believed in Schwartz longer than most but I've definitely fallen off the train this year. I definitely think it's time to bring in a new coaching staff and see what happens. Schwartz to me seems like a best case we make the playoffs once every three years or so but are never really consistently good. Sort of like Jeff Fisher, a guy I think that has been highly overrated. Even then though that'd be high praise considering Fisher went to a super bowl.

It's a 42 point offense that puts up 28 points. That's a problem. Argue all you want but he leaves points on the field.

How many turnovers have happened in the Red Zone this year????

On a side note: LKP is back on the crazy "Lions are great" train.

I wonder how much those cases of uppers cost LKP each day?

Stafford dead space:
2014 $43,041,250
2015 $27,221,250
2016 $11,000,000

He's going to be here for awhile even if we get a new coach. haven't really looked at this years draft but it seems deep with quality QB's maybe not at the top but there should be quality guys later that can compete with Moore for the back up spot on the cheap.

Yeah Stafford's getting paid like Tom Brady.

20 points at Philadelphia..................Lost 34-20
9 points at Green Bay......................Lost 22-9
21 at home verses Tampa bay..........Lost 24-21. (TB's D. scored)
16 at home verses Baltimore............Lost 18-16.
21 points at Arizona.........................Lost 25-21.

Let's see. 362/14=25.8 points a game.
Let me think...
If the offense had gotten 25.8 points in theses five games my god we would have been
4-1 in theses losses :/
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Defensive has played just ok but good enough that we should have 10 wins.
So they are 5% to blame.( Gunther cannot be let off the hook for the last 3rd and 15 or whatever it was deep in Ravens territory, and the fucking Eagle game.. The next time I see a wide split by out DL I am going to vomit.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Drops 5%
Amazing how much it has cost us this year.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Head Coach 50%
Jim is just in way over his head.. His players are not held accountable. His team plays
undisciplined football. He has poor clock management and a fake FG and other crap:/
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scott L
10%...His play calling is average at best.. 3rd and 1 WTF!!!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gunther
5%
Just a average coach.. D. plays great verses the Ravens but when we needed them on 3rd down late they failed, failed, failed.. Although the above scores lead me to think the problem really lays mostly on offense this year..I will never forgive him for the way his defense quit in Philadelphia.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Matt Stafford 24%
If you could take away just 3-5 INT's we probably have 2 more wins easy..
I don't know if it is regressing or play calling or happy feet or poor mechanics or drops or over throws but if we do not make the playoffs it falls really on Jim's and Matt's feet for the two biggest reason we let a gift chances at a Division title fall down the drain..
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1% other.
Ref's and NFL protection status of certain teams... I mean holy crap the ref Monday night was looking right at the arm bar holding and did not call it...
