ESPN Stafford vs Sanchez argument

Um no, Stafford actually makes more, Brady took less money in his last deal, he costs 13.8, 14.8, 13 a year to Staffords 17.8, 15.8, 17.7.

cause were dumb....again....you cant blame any of this on the old rookie deal....weve extended him like twice since then. We CHOSE to pay him more than tom brady. were fucking dumb lol....

Actually you can blame the old CBA. The two restrucutres previously had to be made to get us under the cap. His cap number also would be much lower right now than it is without those restructures (basically pre-paying Stafford cash in advance but smoothing out the cap hits over time). So yes you can blame the old CBA for Staffords higher cap number this year and next year. And 2 million in 2016.

The 8.32 million this season and next season is due to the old restructures that had to be made. His cap number could be lower in 2015-2017 if not for that restructure.

He's sucked for 5 fn games ...lol. Are you guys fn retarded??

I've never seen 30 TDs and a bazillion first downs ignored so much. He's got areas to improve sure but now they are acting like he was pure garbage all year. Even in these handful of games, he has done some good things. They aren't giving up on him after 2014 even with a new coach. They may draft somebody though but he's going nowhere.

And bascially if you don't like Stafford. Tough shit. Contract is already done.

It's unreal, dude. I know he's been brutal for 5 games and YES, it's at the worse time possible but he's going nowhere. And giving up on him isn't even an option. The kid and he's still a kid needs some work on his mechanics. |I have said it before, he's off and he just needs a slap in the mouth. I honestly think Linehan and Schwartz baby him a bit too much. I'm not saying bench him or create a QB controversy or anything because it's too late for that shit. He just needs to work on some things. Kurt Warner said it best yesterday in so many words. He's the franchise guy and he just needs to be smarter with the football. I have total faith in that. Who do you replace him with? A seasoned vet? A rookie? No, you don't. You stick with him...he's a good QB.

No blame on first pick. Alot of people at fault for 2nd pick. Stafford on 3rd pick.

First pick was tipped from a defender and then tipped by Reggie and into the arms of a Raven. That ball was hitting Reggie in stride. Good defense

Second pick looked like Bell wasn't even looking. Staff was getting pressured but I still don't think he should have thrown it. You're right, second pick was a few guys fault maybe.

Third pick. ALL on Staff .. ugh

Yep Bell was supposed to block it seems but got in Durhams way as did Pettigrew. But agreed, Stafford shouldn't have thrown it but he was pressured. Sack and punt is better and it cost the Lions a big 3 points as Tucker hit a long field. Great job by the D on that drive by the way to hold to a very long FG and getting it together after the Ravens got the 27 yarder to Jones. I thought for sure the Ravens would get one more first down and have an easier FG than 61 yards.

I get the Loins do enough to lose, but I'm sick of losing on miracle plays by the other team. Blocked FGs, Shanked punt/long Nugent FG, Durham fumble/Calvin drop for pick and the super long FG.

We'll see how they finsih though. 2 wins to save Schwartz and he's got a case. Lose one more then probably not.

I still think if they win out and they don't make the playoffs, Schwartz is history. You agree?

If Mayhew blames Schwartz for the turnovers then yes definitely. Or gets pressure from the Fords. Schwatz is a defensive head coach though and the Lions offense does alot of good things despite the turnovers. The turnovers screw the defense really too making life harder for them.

If Mayhew feels the big plays were schematic problems, then maybe. And 19 turnover forced can be improved upon. It's a tough call.

The only one who truly knows is the coaching staff and Mayhew/scout (as they are privy to the play calls and reasoning behind them). The fans just talk and really don't know the entire situation, including myself.

I think the entire team is undisciplined which is a reflection of the coaching staff. Turnovers and penalties are a big part of being disciplined. It has been that way since day one. He needs to go regardless of the outcome of these next two games.

1st pick was a tipped ball but it was a horrible throw. That's on Staff.

2nd pick, maybe? He tried to sidearm into a window and missed.

3rd pick, just awful.

Personal fouls have been greatly reduced. The year we were most undisciplined we went 10-6. The players fully support Schwartz and I don't agree with some of the calls against the Lions (Green facemask and Cary PI for example) when they ignore a Webb armbar. I really believe it doesn't even out over time this year in terms of PI plays. Offsides is the only penalty that irks me but I get the aggressiveness.

And turnovers, it's not one thing. It's everyone. It's Linehans job really for that not Schwartz. If you are blaming turnovers for coaches (which I wouldn't unless its schematic) I point to Linehan. This is not Bush or Bells first year fumbling. Plus I think our recovery rates suck and thats the bounce of the ball. Stafford does not a bad int rate given the number of attempts. High attempts due to high number of first downs and longer drives needed.

It bascially comes down to was the long plays allowed schematic and is 19 turnvoers forced enough. But again recovery rate on fumbles. San Fran has 12 forced fumbles, Detroit has 12. San Fran 10 recoveries, Detroit only 5. Big difference.

How do you know it was horrible if it was tipped at the line. Could have hit Bush in stride. Changes the trajectory. And its incomplete if there wasn't a Dline just so happen to be dropping on the play and made a nice volley and catch.

Coaches get fired for not winning games. Just the way it goes. Doesn't matter if it's the players playing bad. He's had five years..that's enough.

I know tipped balls are never on the QB. We lead the league in tipped balls, just bad luck eh? There's a reason and it's $taff.

Sorry it's not based on just win/loss. Especially with this franchise. I'd say Schwartz extension plays into factor too. He has 2 years left. Do The Fords want to pony up money to two coaches?

1st was a horrible throw? Mitch, it was tipped at the line of scrimmage and it still got to Reggie. It was hitting him in stride. It was a good play by the defenders. Cmon.
