Evan Silva Roster Eval

17 sacks, 26 hits and 54 hurries from 4 DEs with terrible terrible run defense. That is the very low bar to beat for these DEs from 2012.

Something in between 2011(26, 21 and 99 hurries) and 2012 sacks/hit/hurries and average run D is actually a huge upgrade.

Oline wasn't great either in run or pass IMO. Usually I check the metrics on this but I'm going on the pure eye test of mancans running for his life slinging side arms out of the pocket all the time. Probably due in part to no reciever outside of Megatron or absolutely no run threat again, but Sackus, Goz and Peterman aren't big losses as ink pointed out. Low bar at most positions across the board for me anyways. What I'm most excited for is how our young players pan out I think at least one of the top three will show some serious promise. This is probably because we haven't had a rookie do jack since Suh. I like all three but my bets on Slay if his knee isn't an issue.

Nick Fairley - chicken legs

I laughed irl.

i like how everyone assumes im the one that said it. In reality it was warren sapp who worked out with fairley prior to his rookie year and basically said he will be injured his entire career because he has abnormaly sized chicken legs in comparison to his fat ass upper body. These homers just hate that all the pessimists end up being right when it comes to the lions organization. Fairley has had a leg injury every single season hes been in the league. But lets not look at facts....lets just blame hughes lol. If motown and detrisin actually watched football theyd probably know that i wasnt the one that called him chicken legs....but based on their knowledge it seems they do very little watching of football.

He had a shoulder injury and a foot injury....i can see how skinny legs would have an affect on those.

brilliant you really nailed that line up. I think we probably go 0-16 since hughes didnt pick this team and wasnt consulted. He is the most correct analyst ever and we should bow to his knowledge. Especially Fairley having chicken legs or how suh's cap hit next year in any way effects his play on field. Also he knows that what every player is going to do before they do it. We just shouldnt even have a season just let Hughes tell us how it was going to go. I assume it will be that every player sucked and that mayhew set a bag of dogshit on fire at hughes's doorstep. Then burnt his house down while peeing on his car. It will be a great story.

fairley doesnt have chicken legs?

contract years with abnormal pay raises dont matter? (see revis)

what exactly are you trying to argue here?....or are you just spouting off a while lot of nothing like you usually do? Cause if youre trying to argue failrey doesnt have small legs or Suhs contract next year doesnt matter....then youre going to lose the argument. Unless youre a republican...then you can just make up your own facts.

You are of course a democratic who is totally correct on all points. Like obamacare is effective just like your player evaluations. Also it doesnt matter if his legs are thin he hasnt had a leg injury. You said he did so obviously my point beats yours, winner. Suhs contract affects the team next year it doesnt affect his ability to play which is what the argument was about. So go talk about gun control being affective and use chicago as your great format because its super successful there. Then use the obama administration as a comparison to the lions front office because they are equally inept.

Backus run blocking was atrocious last year. Gosder was inconsistent, Raiola was terrible as always and Sims was good. Peterman was inconsistent and terrible in pass protection. Reiff, Fox and Warford can get it done. Warford shouldn't get pushed back at least. Sims and Warford hold steady to help Raiola.

Fairley....a foot and shoulder injuries. Wtf does that have to do with having chicken legs? lol

And who the fuck listens to Warren Sapp anyways? Wow...

Hughes said it all came down to chicken legs so it must be true. Because he hasnt been wrong about anything. Like his amazing alternate draft list a few days ago that was pure mastery. If he was running this team Millen would look a genius.

Come on man, why do you keep throwing in Fox? Everyone always says wait 3 years, well Fox hasn't done shit in 3 years.

wasnt me...i thought we covered that already. Guess some people are just a little slower than others.....

If i was running the team we wouldnt still be drafting like millen. Keep drafting WRs, RBs and DTs mayhew....hows that treating you!? lol youre the one who asked who else we could have drafted.....not my fault you dont know how to google. They have courses at your nearest community college....i suggest you enroll. Anyone on earth would have been better than dwil, spievey, fox and levys of the world. Production from titus broyles and leshoure in rd 2 have been below par. Reiff will have his shot but has not improved the team as of yet. Fairley is getting there if he can stay on the field.

Mayhew had his first decent offseason via draft AND FA since hes been here. Odd...xanders is here now....coincidence?....i think not

Oh I googled the fuck out of your paper argument. I ripped apart your draft and even agree with you on some of the picks pre draft. I have annihilated every single one of your arguments. Would I as the GM of the team made every pick exactly like him....NO but you just spout off bullshit that makes zero sense. Broyles was a rookie who should in a few games could be a good weapon for staff. He got open and caught the ball so he replaces Titus who lost his freaking mind and was a cancer for this team. Dwil why the fuck are you throwing him in there I already tore that bs apart. There was a run on WRs at that part of the draft. We chose him only 1 of the 5 or 6 picked is good and that was Mike Wallace. Spievey was a fail so what it happens every draft has a bunch of guys who end up getting drafted that suck. This is about you using an argument about chicken legs from the dumbest analyst on NFL network and it isnt even relevant. Sir pull your head from your ass and take a deep breath you will feel better you're just oxygen deprived!

I have no problem trashing Fox and putting Hilliard in. He has shown to be every bit as good as good as what we already had. But the coaches like Fox better so I am assuming if he stays healthy this year as he did last year and being able to start he will produce.

I'm not putting confidence in Fox as he hasn't played in 3 seasons in a live game. Rusty as hell I bet.

youre right.....im sorry. Its totally cool that none of his rd 2-4 picks have been any good....Keep trying Mayhew. thumbs up for a good effort....shucks you win some you lose some.

who has produced at a consistent level? Delmas?....hes consistent???!!!??? titus broyles leshoure levy spievey dwill fox?.....these are what you have to chose from. Please tell me one that has consistently been good for us. please....

Sammie Lee Hill was a consistent producer for this team. He probably would have been the starter too if not for Fairly.

Willie Young has been surprisingly productive for a 7th round pick.

You have to remember that most players take 3 years, regardless of round or position, to really catch on to the NFL, so given that Mayhew just started his drafts 4 years ago, it really too early to judge those picks yet.

But all in all, many of those guys he's drafted in rounds 4-7 are going to be asked to contribute as backups and starters this year. So we get our first real looks at his drafting ability in 2013.

Delmas has been good, he's had knee issues but the new field turf should help with that. Levy's been a good pick, not a superstar but not complete trash. Could he play better? sure but you need guys like him to build around and develop talent behind.

As far as 2nd round picks, weather there was a little success or you need to wait - Mayhew hasn't had a lot going. I expect 2nd round picks to be better quicker. Maybe that's just me.
