Evan Silva Roster Eval

As far as 2nd round picks, weather there was a little success or you need to wait - Mayhew hasn't had a lot going. I expect 2nd round picks to be better quicker. Maybe that's just me.

i dont know where everyone on here is getting this "it takes 4 years for people to be able to be good" thingy they keep saying lol. God forbid someone comes in and produces right away lol. Bad news for those people....in 4 years your rookies will be free agents and ready to look for the highest bidder going into their 2nd contract.

just a thought...maybe it takes all our guys that long to develop cause we keep picking all these developmental players that arent ready to contribute in the nfl. I think ink mentioned SLH...thats a perfect example. A developmental DT with little to no exp ....a guy we actually did develop quite nicely (one of the few)...just in time for him to go elsewhere....yippie. Lets try drafting some guys that can be on the field year 1 and see how that goes?! Its not like the team has been littered with talent all over the place and dint have holes to cover.

Sammie Lee Hill was drafted and started all his rookie year. Suh and Corey Williams picked up in 2010 were just better. SLH still played alot too though. Mayhew went out and got guys who could play right away. Not just Stafford, Suh, Pettigrew, Delmas but Corey Willliams, Rob Sims, Chris Houston, Tony Scheffler etc. Only reason Fairley and LeShoure didn't is do to injury. Titus played right away. Last year we had depth at Tackle and WR, this year we don't so Reiff and Broyles were great picks. Mayhew saw that transition coming which was smart. And Broyles would have had a ton more snaps in the final 5 games if not for injury. Bentley was a starter until injury. The top 3 picks this year should start as well.

slh did not start his entire rookie year.

i agree we should see this years rookies on the field quite often....but im still debating if thats cause mayhew drafted well or if he had no other choice since we have 11 open starting positions going into this offseason.

He started 12 games including Week 1. The only games he didn't start or play in was because he was hurt. 582 snaps in 2009. SLH was a starter Day 1 then we got Suh and Williams in 2010.

And Slay may not start. The 2012 CB draft could be Mayhew's good talent that starts alongside Houston.
Fuller won't start as Broyles was a good 2012 pick and Burleson a good FA pick up. And Calvin a good re-signing.
And no Tackle was needed to be drafted to start from good draft picks of Reiff and Jason Fox 4th round development.

He did start 12 and he was soooo good we traded for a DT to start in front of him.

Mayhew wanted to trade for CW in 2009. Different kind of DTs. One is pass rushing and one is run stopping. SLH did well in several other years but had limitations like every 4th round pick. He was a good pick in 2009 and went to the Titans to start. If we didn't have two top 5 stud DTs he would start here too.

What are you bringing him up for then, we're talking 2nd round picks. And Mayhew has had a poor record there..

in all fairness i brought up how we draft developmental players that dont see the field until theyre ready to leave in FA. He came back with SLH who started a year and didnt do very well then developed on the bench the next 3 years....then left for FA. Not sure how much different that is ...probably just speaks to how weak we were at the position prior to suh and corey williams more than anything else.

In all fairness alot of Mayhews picks have contributed early(Delmas, Young, Best, Pettigrew, Levy, SLH). And when they didn't it was due to injury not lack of talent (LeShoure, Broyles, Fairley, Bentley, Fox)

I re-thought my position.

He's an idiot.

if this is the route were taking with ansah then i agree with mitch. You dont take a guy number 5 overall and baby him along especially when we have no one else at his position. Throw him to the fire...let him learn on the job. I better not be hearing the same shit in week 6. Id much rather hear "hes our starter....hes raw....but we will coach the shit out of him and he will be ready to start for us day 1."

Where first-round draft pick Ziggy Ansah stands:

“We’re going to take it day-by-day with Ziggy. We obviously had a chance to work with him at the Senior Bowl, we saw his whole body of work from everything he did in college. But he’s playing — I won’t say a completely different position — but he’s playing a different technique, a different style with us. We’ll get a chance to work with him this weekend at rookie minicamp.

“Physically, the sky’s the limit with him, but we know that every thing that he goes through is going to be a learning experience for him.”

Ansah is going to see a ton of snaps. Don't worry hughes. If he doesn't, it better be because they signed Dwight Freeney.

who has produced at a consistent level? Delmas?....hes consistent???!!!??? titus broyles leshoure levy spievey dwill fox?.....these are what you have to chose from. Please tell me one that has consistently been good for us. please....

Leshoure was fine....he was basically a rookie and being asked to start.

Levy is a starter......Spievey a starter

SLH was solid as depth and everybody on these boards wanted him back, including you.

Titus was solid as a rookie as a #3 or #4 option in the offense. Unfortunately he lost his damn mind.

Everybody loves Delmas when he's healthy

No superstars but guys that have contributed past Rd 1....

There ya go...

Its always the "basically he's a rookie" non sense. I suppose Fox is basically a rookie as well with 3 missed years. Spievey is no starter, he might have been doing it but he's no starter.

I like Delmas, I have his jersey - but "everyone loving him when he's healthy" doesn't hold water when he's hurt way too much. The reason inconsistent is brought up.

they got insurance on all their bikes this offseason because of delmas....incase they need new parts or heart monitors. Delmas could probably win the tour de france with all his training over the last couple years.

lmfao..

Leshoure missed a whole season with an injury and was asked the folliwing year to be a starter. He was a rookie in my eyes. Fox is a little different...he's been here a few years but theyre keeping him around for a reason, they see something in him...work ethic....film study....its something.

Say what you want about Spievey but he switched positions and STARTED. You have no clue that he wouldnt start for another team.

Delmas is a pretty decent Safety, fan favorite and another starter.

The argument was nobody after rd 1 has been drafted that was worth a damn. Again, proven wrong by a lot us.

Broyles contributed when the 200 snaps actually played. They could take it slow with him with Burleson/Young(based on 2011) and then he produced when called upon. Then unluckily got hurt.

Bentley started. The game he played we beat Philly, beat the Rams, held the Vikings to 6. Titans was bad giving up 23 offensive points to them but neither long TD was Bentley's fault (all the backup safeties)
