Get StartedEven if you are still an ardent Stafford supporter, you have to admit the dude needs a change of scenery and a fresh start.
The problem with any "Get rid of Stafford" thread is that it almost always ignores that somebody else still has to play QB. We have seen just today that Orlovsky isn't any better. This year's draft doesn't have a clear cut star QB available no matter how high we pick. Stafford is better than the retreads we would find in free agency.
That's not saying we should continue building our team around him. We shouldn't. But we're not getting any better until changes are made in other areas anyway.

This will never get old.
But he's cheaper.
You are right. And this is the first year that cutting Stafford could be smart financially. I just don't see a better option immediately available. Who is the top QB in the draft? Goff? A junior who just threw 5 picks against the only quality defense he faced.
Getting rid of Stafford's contract sounds really good until you remember that we'd be relying on Mayhew to rebuild with that money.
Have to had their confidence shook in his ability today. If this game doesn't prove he's a poor QB, I don't know what else will.
My issue is that if we get rid of an average QB before his contract even ends (and again, it's not like the team has been that smart about money), how long does it take before we have someone that good or better? Stafford has sucked bad this year, but he IS capable of managing a pretty good offense. I don't want to become the Jets without the awesome defense.
My answer. Feel free to debate. Keep Stafford. Hire Linehan as HC.
