Get StartedI honestly HATE the response of, "well I'm a fan, I pay the money, I can boo whoever I want...."
Well by the same token, you can act like a jerk all day everyday, it's a free country. You're free to go an never give a tip again, or yell at a subordinate at work, or tell off one of your friends, or....ect. You can look like a jerk 1000 different ways that reflect poorly on you and those you associate with, does that mean you should do it? Does that mean I should tolerate it as someone who is also associated with you by virtue of being at the ballpark following the team I support?
I don't see him challenging the rights of people to boo. That's a bit of a red herring.
Trying to make the argument that it makes the fans look bad to boo has nothing to do with denying anyone's rights.
Worth is not deserving of a major league roster spot, let's not go crazy.
I don't understand why people are trying to shout justice down. He doesn't think it's constructive to boo and thinks it reflects badly on the fans. I disagree, but I don't see why a moderator needs to tell him to shut up.
What's your argument for Worth not being deserving of a roster spot, I'd love to hear it.
And I don't think when Mitch says "shut up" he means it in an official capacity, you're trying to make something out of nothing here.
Argument against Worth? A 26 year old that has a career minor league OPS under .700. What is the realistic expectation for him the majors?
The only attractive thing about Worth is that he's the bad second base option that hasn't been tried yet.
What is your argument for giving him a chance?
If when I go to games this summer Inge is still on the team, I will boo him mercilessly. The guy is an awful baseball player at the major league level and has been for a couple years. But that I could abide, it's his comments in the press that are unbelievable. The false sense of self worth is pathetic, he needs a reality check, if he'd just admit he's struggling and said he's just happy to be given another chance he'd avoid most of the boos. Instead he says he is hitting the ball well and he just feels he's snake bitten, he acts like it's his birthright to play for the Tigers as long as he wants. Furthermore, he was the 1st player to throw a fit when they traded for Cabrera to play 3rd base, he was also the 1st player to speak badly when we signed Fielder and it became known Cabrera would move back to 3rd. We signed 2 of the 5 best hitters in the league and he bitched and moaned both times instead of welcomed them to the team and stated he's happy to have such dynamic players joining the club.
Brandon Inge comes off as an asshole with an overinflated sense of self worth. He doesn't come across as a team player or a good team leader and for that as much as his performance he deserves every boo.
If you're a fan of the team he plays for, and you're booing him, that makes you a sh!tty fan frankly. I don't care if he's the worst player in history.
And in addition, it makes our entire fan base look Sh!tty as well.
I am not a big fan of the booing either. I do wish Inge was gone but as long as he is wearing the English D then I will be pulling for him. I really wish he were gone though because while I don't like the booing, I can't really say that I feel it's unwarranted either. It's just a shame that Inge's career in Detroit is going to end on such a shitty note.
He's saying that the people booing are affecting him by association.
So without coming right out and saying it, he is arguing we should not have the right to boo, lest it reflect badly on others.
