Fans Booing Inge

Worth is not deserving of a major league roster spot, let's not go crazy.

I don't understand why people are trying to shout justice down. He doesn't think it's constructive to boo and thinks it reflects badly on the fans. I disagree, but I don't see why a moderator needs to tell him to shut up.

Well I didn't take offense but I appreciate the sentiment JimRice.

Frankly, I expected to get railed on by a vocal handful or more people on here, I came out strong in my post because I knew I was going to be met with strong opposition.

That said, I'm putting my opinion out there as part of what I believe is the silent majority of Tigers fans.

And in addition, a lot of people think Inge himself is a dbag. I really don't understand why. I get that he makes comments about himself that indicate he has a higher value of his play than objectivity should dictate. That said, the guy shouldn't be objective about himself. I would venture to guess that nobody is objective about themselves nor should they be. He should at least be confident in his own ability if nothing else. So I don't get how people equate his attitude in that way, it is the manager/GM's job to be objective about his talent. As a member of the community, he has a decent track record of being a pretty positive individual, I'm surprised comments about his baseball ability trump that.

You were met with strong opposition because you said people who boo Inge are not good Tigers fans. It's like when people say if you say anything bad about America leave it. You can be both.

The fact is this has nothing to do with ability or talent as I said earlier many have stunk and I never would have even considered booing. It's not just the ridiculous and I do mean ridiculous comments about himself (Having self confidence is one thing, being absolutely in another world to reality is another) it's also the constant bitching when he is asked to sit or be moved.

He had comments whining about Pudge who many consider the best catcher of all time coming in and taking his spot, he had negative reactions to Prince Fielder (Prince Fielder!) coming in and place of him. Instead of being greatful that he is still even on a major league roster though no other team wants him he continues to whine that he does not get to start and play where he wants. That is not a quality individual. Community work or not.

No that's not what I said at all. I'm saying though you do have the right to boo, you should choose not too as respectable Tigers fan.

Well I'm not going to harp on this, because frankly Brandon is getting too much attention, be it negative or whatever.

But, I think many, including myself have a beef with the notion that in order to be respectable fans, we should not boo.

Also, you did say that the other fans booing affected you by association, and were "making me look like a jerk".

But never the less, people have a right, and are going to boo him, and you are going to dislike it, and you have a right to. I don't see anything wrong with either of those things.

Well while I object to it as a Tigers fan I certainly do not object to it on a personal freedoms level. And I hardly expected to effectuate some kind of change, I just wanted to put out an opinion that I don't think many other people would vocalize.

I see nothing wrong with booing a player that sucks. Maybe if more fans would boo him it will help management decide to cut his ass!

I don't agree that much with tigersofjustice on fans booing Inge but I can understand his reasoning.

What I Disagree with with is a moderator telling a poster in so many words to shut up because he disagrees with the posters opinion.

Some moderators are on many message boards posting here at Detroit Sports Forum.
As a moderator and a Tigers fan, I 'Live on this board' and occasionally go to the other boards.
I don't like what I am seeing on what I consider the board I moderate.
I try to let all posters have their say unless like many months ago a poster continually caused and created arguments with many on the previous message board forum and he was dealt with.
In the past few weeks, I have received more than a couple private messages and phone calls from good long time posters/friends regarding this type of behaviour from some mod and other posters that appear to go out of their way to trash their posting opinions.
At this sports forum, Admin Mike and the rest of us are trying to get more of the 'guest' that read the different sports, non-sports to join to get a larger membership and audience to post and become involved.
The last thing we want, or should I say that I want on the Tigers board, are posters leaving due to regularly insensitive comments towards them when they post....
Look, not all here can just brush that sort of thing off, and/or to give it back.
personally that talk doesn't bother me, I've been called much worse.
What I am saying is that this is my house, so respect it and all that post here on the Tigers board.
Remember, opinions are like rear ends, everybody has one, whether you agree or not.
I have never wanted to get anybodys attention by showing my mod badge, I always thought you earn people/posters respect by posting with them, not down at them.
If this hits home with a couple here that need to read it, then good....if not, there will be a problem.
