Ferguson, MO

If officer dirp dirp sees the guy reach for a weapon, its a justified shoot. Yes it's awful, and it looks bad. Those two are not mutual exclusive.

There isn't enough info to determine wether it was justified or not. Like I said, the context matters.

There are also people crying about the number of shots. Officers are taught to shoot until threat is down. Keep in mind officer dirp dirp missed 3 of the 7 shots he fired.

He would probably be dead if officer dirp dirp had semi decent shooting stance.

So...three bullets went to waste?

That?s a fucking waste of taxpayer dollars.

Unless they can pick those three bullets up and use them again.

The Wisconsin AG wouldn't say whether police knew he had a knife or thought he was reaching for one, only that he won't comment on facts that will be in dispute (link). Kinda surprising the reporter here *actually pressed* the AG a little. Usually the authorities get carte blanche to openly lie in such cases.

Why does anyone give the cops and authorities any credibility in these issues? We see it time and time again when there are controversial police killings... the officer(s) involved disappears for weeks, while they get all their "stories" straight, the "stories" get widely reported by the corporate/mainstream media, then when the "stories" fall apart under scrutiny, they just drop them and move on, knowing that enough people believed them to justify burying the story and discrediting anyone who called for police reform.

this used to happen every couple years. now it happens every couple months, or weeks.

Police lie - EVEN UNDER OATH - ALL THE TIME, and your fellow Americans get killed, go to prison, and/or have their property seized because of it.

I wonder which figure will end up being larger...the settlement or the dollar amount of damage done by the rioters?

Why do you give a shit? The cops won't be held accountable or bear the cost in either case.

the two sides of the story are very different.

Blake's attorney said that he was "attempting to de-escalate a domestic incident when police drew their pistols and stun guns on him. He said Blake was walking away to check on his children when police shot him".

The other side says that he was the reason the police were called to the scene.

According to the statement, officers from the Kenosha Police Department were dispatched to a residence Sunday, after a female caller reported that her boyfriend was there and "was not supposed to be on the premises." After the initial attempt to arrest Blake, Officer Rusten Sheskey deployed a stun gun to stop him. When that attempt failed, Officer Vincent Arenas also deployed a stun gun but "that taser was also not not successful in stopping Mr. Blake," the statement said.

During the investigation following the initial incident, Blake "admitted that he had a knife in his possession," according to the statement. Investigators recovered a knife from the driver's side floorboard of Blake's vehicle. No additional weapons were found, according to the statement.

I think the Lawyer's story is BS.

here's the thing: Blake's lawyer's story could be BS, and the police & authorities' story could be BS as well. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

Either way, the cops should not have shown up and shot him 7 times in the back.

They aren't supposed to arrest them. They are supposed to call a social worker first so they can talk it out. If that doesn't work, the police are to get involved. The police will then ask the suspect to get into the back of the car...but no handcuffs. The suspect needs to be willing to go. If they refuse, just let them go. No need for any kind of physical interaction that could lead to injury or hurt feelings.

Yeah, in this case - and a lot of cases - it obviously would have been better if unarmed, professional social workers did respond to calls, instead of a couple armed, dumb 20-something Dirty Harry wannabes, licensed to use deadly force, and immunized from the consequences of using deadly force at the drop-of-a-hat by the state.

The police would be better off responding to armed gang violence.

...Oops, except they don't. In most major cities, they pretty much take a "let them kill eachother off" approach, and arrests and conviction percentages in homicides have been absurdly low for years.

that would be a great plan if innocent people weren't getting killed in the crossfire.

You don’t know this. You could be guessing right, but you could be guessing completely wrong also.

Domestic cases are dodgy. People can be very pissed off and emotionally charged. Who’s to say that the guy isn’t going to take his knife and just start hacking the unarmed social workers to death because he’s pissed off they showed up at all?

I’ve heard stories from every day guys who just thought they were tough guys – no police training – decided to intercede in a domestic problem and shit went south.

Social workers are not trained to deal with emotional charged people that they take by surprise at their homes.

If they start deploying social workers to take care of police matters, that shit will come to an abrupt end the first time a social worker is murdered – and there is no chance that that won’t happen.

I heard the stupid mayor of my city bringing this up as a possibility – has he asked any social worker even a single one if they would be willing to put themselves in that kind of danger? My guess is I doubt it. My guess is they would all say no.

My take

A scary black guy opens a door and gets shot in the back 7 times.

A white kid murders 2 people. Walks right by the cops. Waves. Then goes home.

The police are fucking useless. A majority of them are scared little fucking high school dorks that never got played with so they become cops so they can feel important.

Good job protecting us police... another city burns down. Clap it out!

Again, wrong with the facts.

Blake was shot 4 times. Not that is makes much of a difference.

Are you doing this intentionally like your claim Chauvin pointed his gun at GF or just trying to make your side of argument look better?

Yup, cause the police knew what had happened down the road from them without seeing it.

The must police have telekinetic powers and are all knowing.

What? Telekenises is not a thing?

An investigation had to occur to figure out what happened? Well I am triggered dear sir, such incompetence!

BTW, that kid got arrested once police figured out what happened. He got charged too.

We can ignore the self-defense argument that will be offered.

First guy he killed charged him and tried to grab the rifle. Second guy he killed attacked him with a skateboard and tried to grab his rifle.

But yah, he obviously killed them in cold blood for no reason.

And the police are incompetent because they are not omnipotent.

Everybody asking if the kid's shooting was justified. I'm just asking why a 17 year old is walking around town with a gun?

Not to be pedantic, but you?re talking about telepathy, not telekinesis.

Telekinesis is the ability to move objects using one?s own mind only..

Dr. Xavier was telepathic.

Jean Grey it was telekinetic.

She was the complete package.

My mistake, get those mythological superpowers confused.

I guess because he wanted to and nobody stopped him.
