Game 1: Bears @ Lions Thread

From the linked article in post 216:

"Is this the type of attitude you want at the helm of your football team if you’re the Ford family?"

The answer: of course it is.

Patricia is a branch on the Belichick Hubris Tree who was grafted onto the Ford Hubris Forest, so it's no surprise that he'd exhibit that hubris at every opportunity, and it's what the Fords expect of him, because it's how this corporation has done business since 1903.

It will never change. The Lions' organization is a mere appendage of the Fords, so it, too, will remain intransigent in its ways and hire management with no imagination that hires like-minded, lizard-brain coaches.

The last coach who actually stood up to this organization was Joe Schmidt.

I'm sure a fan could come up with a 4 or 5 man rush. I'm sure that would get torched with 3 backup CBs too.

Quick TD drive allowed and calling a TO but giving up the TD anyway. Calamity of errors again starting with backup Crosby getting beat for the sack by Hicks on a dumb roll out call. Attempting a 55 yarder with little benefit, then Prater hitting the upright. Quick score. Only up 3. Peterson running well all day. Two stuffs. Then aggressive on 3rd down and get the tip pick int. Trubisky makes the throw of his career to Miller beating a 6th string CB.

Stafford takes the team on his back throwing bullets to Jones and Amendola. Then Swift drops the game winner.

You always mention the one throw or drive. Maybe if Matt doesn't throw the an INT the Bears don't take the lead. Or the missed FG, Prater can make a 55 yarder in his sleep.

In order to lose a 23-6 lead in the 4th qtr.... your entire team has to suck ass. #Tank4trevor

Ravens or chiefs lose top 3 cbs. They blow 17 point lead too. That pick was not staffords fault either

I'd be all for it but I just don't see anyone saying goodbye to Matty Stafford.

Well.....he just restructured.....so you might be right. This was the first year his contract was somewhat tradable.....but it might not be now. I haven?t seen details.

Either way....if Lawrence is available you draft him. Any new regime is gonna want a new QB.

Nope. Their head coaches aren?t pussies....Ravens and Chiefs would go for the jugular. Our coach plays scared....deflects blame.....brings up individual plays from 5 years ago as examples.....and will not learn.

The lions were agressive. Passing led to sack by hicks. Peterson running wild. Went for super long fg. Passing on pick. Offense aggressiveness not a problem. I think conservative punting instead of fg wins the game. Maybe even more conservative on the pick pla too could win it

And blitzing doesnt save 3 backup cbs on defense. Miller made a great catch for the lead

You?re right. Rushing 4 and playing man coverage when it has been ineffective ALL DAY is a much better idea for 4th and 5th string CB?s. Put em on an island and give the QB all day and a clean pocket to throw.

1 sack and no turnovers against the worst QB in the NFL. Lol. Your reasoning is as brilliant as Patricia?s 4th quarter strategies.

Blitzing or rush 4 didnt matter is the point. Man or zone..3 backups is 3 backups. And it did work for 3 quarters with the starters. Once trufant went down the game changed

Agressive on offense hurt them actually

And by the way. They did blitz some. Up 23 13. They sent two blitzes in a row. 12 yard tip toe catch by miller. First down to graham at the 1. Both blitzes. Still torched to set up that big score

Also. Short field from Patterson kick return. Shorter field from prater miss. And really short field after the pick. So bears scored quickly for a reason.

The 3rd and 10 pick-up on bears first td Drive that sparked them. 18 yards to miller. That was zone. Miscommunication by roberts. Next play 18 yarder to Robinson was incredible catch by the way too. Mistackle on 3rd down in backfield sets up 4th and 1. 4th in 1 would have been stopped as flowers bumped into Harmon slowing him down just enough. Lions have to take early quarter first Time out too due to mismatch. Bears still score on jump ball. Graham pushed off on walker by the way. That time out hurts Detroit too

Showed blitz on final bears td drive starting at 32. Run for 5 yards. Tavai jumps offside free first down. Then the Td throw to miller that trubisky never ever makes. Ever. Miller made a great catch too. McRae had good coverage too

And after all that Stafford tosses 3 strikes for first downs and a 4th that should be a touchdown but was dropped

The collapse of the 15-minute 4th quarter on Sunday is a microcosm of the collapse of the franchise over the last 55 years.

The next closest franchise in terms of leads lost in the 4th quarter since Patricia took over the Lions is Pittsburgh......with 7.

But yeah, Fatty, you're doing everything right. Keep it up!

You won't get an argument from me about Stafford doing enough to win the game. He did.

AP was really good. Great, actually. Flowers was solid. Had a strip sack (which of course didn't bounce our way.....fumbles never do) and a couple other pressures. Both Okwara's didn't even get on the bus. Hand played like shit. Davis was shit. Tavai was shit. Jones was shit. Trufant was ok. Oruwariye was shit. Williams was shit. Collins got tossed. Okudah was in street clothes. Harmon was shit. OLine was ok. Kerryon was shit. Swift was shit.

I just named most of our starters.......tough to win games when most of the team was downright bad. With Patricia's philosophy, if this pass rush doesn't GREATLY improve (and there is no reason to believe it will) we will have another near historically bad defensive year.......from a guy who is a defensive "genius".

Fuck Patricia.
