Game 1: Bears @ Lions Thread

You won't get an argument from me about Stafford doing enough to win the game. He did.

AP was really good. Great, actually. Flowers was solid. Had a strip sack (which of course didn't bounce our way.....fumbles never do) and a couple other pressures. Both Okwara's didn't even get on the bus. Hand played like shit. Davis was shit. Tavai was shit. Jones was shit. Trufant was ok. Oruwariye was shit. Williams was shit. Collins got tossed. Okudah was in street clothes. Harmon was shit. OLine was ok. Kerryon was shit. Swift was shit.

I just named most of our starters.......tough to win games when most of the team was downright bad. With Patricia's philosophy, if this pass rush doesn't GREATLY improve (and there is no reason to believe it will) we will have another near historically bad defensive year.......from a guy who is a defensive "genius".

Fuck Patricia.

Okwaras and Hand could have done more. Both Julian and Hand were dealing with injuries too by the way. But agree pass rush could be better as always. Just a step too slow.

But with starting CBs, at least 1, the Lions only gave up 6 points in 3 Quarters. Harmon was good, Walker was good, Flowers was good. LBs didn't get torched at all even with Collins out. It was the backup CBs getting beat. Harris is garbage still. Some were just great throws and catches. 2 by Miller, 1 by Robinson. Graham beat Will Harris when the Lions blitzed to the 1. Jump ball to Graham. And a miscommunication in zone by Roberts. And again, short fields for Bears on all 3 TD drives. They live on short fields.

That's the thing with Stafford around here it seems he throws a big INT that gives Chicago hope and honestly the game, yet he played "good enough to win." We got use to to mediocre, we got used to 3 QTS is good enough.

Stafford was terribly in the 4th and along with many others is to blame for the lost.

Lions ran alot in the 4th with Peterson. Stafford was far from terrible. Did you not see the final drive? 3 absolute strikes and 4th that should have been the game winning TD. Stafford was good on almost every play even in the 4th Quarter. Pick was a got to have it 3rd and 7 after two run stuffs by the Bears. Proper read, solid throw, Eddie Jackson made a great play. Also 9 out of 10 times its a different type of deflection. This one happened to go 1,000 feet in the air for an easy pick with Fuller pulling off his man.

So here is where I see it differently. Was Staffords pick a good throw? No. Not at all. Is it a little unlucky that it bounced in the air like that? Yep. Still #9's fault for throwing it but luck certainly wasn't on our side.

That being said. What did we do on 1st and 2nd down? Tight formation, AP in the backfield so everyone in the stadium (get it) knows we're running it......tried to jam it down their throat. 1 yard. 1 yard. 3rd and 8. Make a play Stafford. Chicago rushes 4.....gets pressure and Stafford tried to force it. INT. NO play action. No new wrinkle in the O to throw the Bears off. Hockenson killing his guy all day......nothing.

That worked in NE. Shit wont work here. Stafford isn't Brady....or Rodgers.....or Brees......or Russell Wilson. Stafford isn't going to do it EVERY TIME. History proves that.

Even after that......Stafford DID do it. Right down the field and threw a TD between two defenders with 6 seconds left. But it was dropped. Do you know how many "experts" would have been slobbering over Brady's dick if he led a game winning drive like that?? Holy shit, they'd have to devote an entire week to highlights of Brady money shots all over Orlovsky's face.

Stafford deserves some of the blame. Absolutely. But nobody is settling for good enough. He is being coached by a moron......gets NO help from his D, his line or his WR's.....yet takes the blame because he forced a throw.

Really?

Not the proper read. Not a sold throw.

That throw is complete 10% of the time. Probably picked 25% of the time. Should have eaten it and punted.

Very disappointing week 1. Hopefully we can bounce back and get a W against GB. 1-1 headed into week 3 would be a good feeling.

We didnt have 3 backup cbs. Oruwariye is a starter and he played the entire game. Heres a brilliant fucking idea...Dont play 4 CBs if all your talented ones are injured?

Give Stafford a run game and he will win games...DEBUNKED! 93 yards by Peterson.

Give Stafford a defense and he will win games...DEBUNKED! 6 points thru 3 quarters and a 17 point lead.

Stafford is Elite....DEBUNKED! No elite qb would have let that happen...again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again.

No need to overreact. It?s one week out of 16. I didn?t like seeing us blow a 4th quarter lead either but I?m not ready to tank after week 1. When bye week hits, I may have a different view. Until then, we play to win the game!

That's why right there the players and coaches fault. No one is blameless. My point was why is it okay to play 3 quarters and not 4 quarters. And to your Brady point it wasn't a game winning drive. It was an almost game winning drive. Don't throw an INT with 2 minutes left on your side of the field and you won't need a game winning drive. Its that simple. But no.

And I haven't seen anyone blame just Stafford. We all know it was a team loss. But don't say Matt played well enough to win or was unlucky (3 guys around a football it would have been lucky not to have bounced in the air). But at least we almost won.

11 times its happened the last 2 years. A freak week 1...fine i get it. But this is the 11th time! Youre telling me Peyton Manning lets that happen?....11 TIMES!???!!!!???!

Its simple...the sack and the int made it worse and thats 100% on Stafford.

Missed FG....probably also on Stafford since a 45 yd FG became a 55 yd FG.

Not scoring at all in the 4th qtr...Stafford's a big part of that. Probably more of the blame should shift to Swift for that....but stafford couldnt lead a drive the rest of the qtr.

Once again...your entire team has to suck if you lose after being up 23-6 in the 4th qtr.

saw this on ESPN

Patricia's teams have led in the fourth quarter in 20 of the 33 games he's coached with the Lions. They lost 10 of those games and tied another.

Ravens or chiefs lose top 3 cbs. They blow 17 point lead too. That pick was not staffords fault either

And, the sun was in Swift's eyes. Not his fault.

Somebody opened a door changing the wind effect on the Prater kick. Not his fault.

Strength and conditioning coach skips leg day. Multiple suspect hammies not his fault.

Rinse.

Repeat.

My dog ate it...

If you think that pick was staffords fault, you shouldnt watch football

Peterson had a nice day until the drive they needed it the most. Stuff, stuff, flukey pick. But thats oline. Kudos to eddie jackson

And stafford led all drives really. And another 7 dropped

30 burger on a top 10 defense

If I know one thing that INT was certainly all Stafford. What was he trying to do? Swift should of caught that but like I always said WR are drafted to catch the ball and RB are drafted to run the ball.

Cool it w the Stafford excuses. At some point after 11+ years, it?s time to prove it and win. No more excuses. We all like him, root for him but it?s time to win!

The loss is on Patrica, Defense, and Stafford in that order.

Lol
Stafford was 24-42 1 td 1 Int, and missed way to many passes in the 4th quarter with a chance to put it away.. Then the veteran Qb takes a critical sack when a field goal probably salts the game away. His qb rating was freaking 45.5. Matt was not that good yesterday when it was dagger time. The game never should came down to a pass to A rookie running back. That was a great pass by Stafford. Stafford is our best player. When is he going to take over games and really hurt teams and save his shitty defense. Because Patrica isn’t going to

Patrica
Wtf game are they calling in the first three quarters ? Because the 4th quarter was a disaster again by Patrica’s defense. Patrica has to start calling better games. He may be fired after week four if he starts 0-4.

Look if Prater makes a 55 yard fg the game is probably over. If Patrica punts maybe the game is over to. Who knows. Prater has the leg. It’s good from 45 yards where he should have kicked from.
