Game 1: Lions @ Cardinals Thread

https://www.prideofdetroit.com/2019...etroit-lions-arizona-cardinals-week-1-nfl-tie
Pride Of Detroit Lions PODcast breaks down a Lions tie. Tie? Tie. 60 minutes.
A result where nobody feels good, the standings don?t matter much and there?s more questions than answers.

PODcast has arrived on the scene of the Lions latest tie.
This one will be rough to clean up, chief. I won?t lie to you. There?s been some ghastly colors smeared on the floor. Heavy duty cleaners will be required for this one. Myself, Jeremy Reisman and Ryan Mathews are going to really have to dig deep to explain most of this game.

You?ll bear with us, of course, but we?ll also bring you our takes on what was and the inside scoop on individual performances, plus we also try to figure out what was going on with that dang timeout.

This week on the PODcast:
Ummm help, HELP!!
The Lions weren?t the worst team on Sunday...but that probably doesn?t inspire a lot of confidence in fans!

Giving up a big lead isn?t as easy as you think. We walk you through how the dirty deed was done dirt cheap.

Performance reviews already don?t look too great for some folks here. We?re going to need to talk about the offensive line real quick, buddy.

But on the flip side, T.J. Hockenson is everything and a bag of chips!

Breaking down Stafford?s play.

We also take a look around the NFL at the upcoming games and the rest of the division, and we find some misery to keep us company.

I hope the lions are aware of this place and read what we say about them I want all of them to know they are an embarrassment and a lifetime disgrace for the ave lion fan and then do something about it, your mediocrity is not acceptable and set the example fatty lose some weight and put in some work will ya as soon you don?t need that crutch I expect to see you start putting in some reps fatty

Anyone watch the last 1 minute of Saints - Houston game? NO ahead by 6 after FG with 50 or so seconds left. 2 plays and Houston gets TD but misses Xtra point but roughing on K so he kicks again and makes it. Brees gets the ball back and 3-4 plays gets it in FG position, makes a 58 yarder. 30-28. Just awesome.

Crazy game. The TD pass by Watson was on the money despite being drilled on the play. Then the Saints just all knew time was important, got exactly the yardage they needed. Got down when they needed. Excellent coaching.

Beautiful offensive football.

Lions aren't close to being good.

The Texans defense on the final possession was straight out of the Patricia playbook. Why on earth do teams insist on playing prevent?

That Cleveland game when Matt was injured but came back after TO .. That was the best for us in Matt's tenure.

Not even close.

We might have had better games over the years even dominate ones but the way Stafford came back after that big shoulder injury.. "Get the f off me." I haven't been that excited with Lions before that point in some time. It resonated a lot with many of us..

On the "brighter" side, I doubt that the Lions will be playing prevent D again for quite awhile into their season.

That Dallas comeback.......Calvin?s 329 yard game......where Staff fake spiked and jumped in. That game was amazing.

My wife said there is noway I won?t watch this Sunday. She laughed when I told her to schedule something this weekend. Then I remembered the crappy Wolverines are off on Saturday and told her to schedule whatever for Saturday lol.

God damn lions.!! Damn it dad I love you but why oh why did you put me in front of tv in 1969-70! Well 1970 I was in a traction, and a body cast from September to December so all I did was watch Lions on Sunday. Then I was hooked and me and my dad were Lions watchers the rest of his life and now mine. Lol. (I was named after my dad and grand dad
Robert Earl) ... But he always reminded me that the Lions have never been as good as they were in the 1950?s so don?t get you hopes up Bobby ! When I was little my family called me Bobby. That changes when get to be a adult. Bobby becomes Bob or Robert or Rob. The Lions are just the Lions lol.

For some odd reason my browser refuses to quote the relevant part of your post...too weird.

I grew up in the city of Detroit, so fandom was a result of where, and especially who due to my peers' fanhood when I became a teen.

But those who lived in NW lower Mi where my family's summer home was located, did not also have homestate sports loyalty, as their TV/radio signals being received unobstructed across Lake Michigan, caused most of them to become Bears, Packers, or esp in the UP, Vikings fans instead.

In fact, 3 of the 4 Ann Arbor railroad car ferries which crossed the Great Lake during ice-free periods to/from that town, were named rather ironically enough, the "Viking", The "City of Green Bay", and the "City of Milwaukee".

Scott Mitchell, who also then threw for a whopping 78 yards a couple of years later in a playoff game at Tampa Bay.

That playoff game vs Bucs was one of my favorite Mitchell wuss fests. He got knocked down in the backfield, and lay prone on the turf until being carted off and out of sight by the team trainers. In the meantime, not ONE of his teammates went over to see how Scotty was doing, b/c they all knew damn well that he was not badly injured or KOed, but he was instead mostly faking it...>:D>:D

Another was under the eventual next/mid-season quitting Lions' HC Bobby Ross vs the Bengals, in what was to become the last game Mitchell ever QBed for the Lions...and was just two games into the '98 season. Mitchell had just tossed his second INT of the game early on. Ross turned beet red while shaking a fisted hand in the air....and Scotty slunk away to the sideline, as far away from Bobby as he could possibly get...lol.

Has any other NFL HC ever quit on his team during a season in the SB era? Pretty sure that the Lions are the only NFL franchise holding that dubious distinction.

I'm with you Bobby. I'll have to figure out a way to get gone during the game.
