Tigers vs. Indians Preview: Both offenses are fighting the cold weather blues.
Matthew Boyd and Josh Tomlin should benefit from chilly conditions again on Tuesday.
BYBTB

Cabrera went into the game Tuesday needing one more RBI to tie Hall of Famer Chipper Jones (1,623) for 31st on the all-time list.

LOL, the Indians only have one guy in their lineup that is hitting over 200. Rajai Davis is hitting .235

I think I'm going to have to switch broadcasts.. Gibby is just bad. Really bad.

Next two innings will probebly be tigers best chance to score a run or two this series being in thier middle pen right now

I couldn't be happier with the starting staff so far. If Miggy and VMart(McCann and Iggy too, but they are what they are) could start hitting this team could surprise some people.

Cold is making the offense worse than it really is and the pitching better than it really is, after it warms up both will return to what we expected umps have had large zones so far this year as well I?ve noticed. I think they are basically saying it?s cold out here anything close you better be swinging and we ain?t

Cleveland wins with two solo home runs tigers have two home runs as a team through 10 games

Dumbest schedule ever. 2 series in Detroit, then Chicago and Cleveland. Couldn't give them a warm city?

Construction worker: You know, these guys aren't so fucking bad.
[Cuts to groundskeepers]
Groundskeeper #1: [In Japanese] They're still shitty.
Groundskeeper #2: Hai

Tigers pitching staff last three games:

#Tigers batters last three games:

1-2 record

WORTH NOTING

The Tigers were 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position.

* Candelario was hit by a pitch on the side of his right knee in the third inning. Josh Tomlin's pitch may have struck the "funny bone" of the leg, which can't feel good in the cold.

Candelario went down but quickly popped back up and walked off the pain as he went to first.

Jeimer Candelario hit a RBI double to to left to tie the game at 1 in the seventh for the Tigers. It was his third double of the game. He's the first Tiger with three doubles in a game since J.D. Martinez on June 14, 2016 at the White Sox.

* Tigers shortstop Niko Goodrum surprised just about everybody in the stadium when he tagged up from first base on James McCann's fly ball to medium center field in the second inning. He was called out initially, but ruled safe after a review. Goodrum's risk ultimately didn't pay off, as he became one of many Tigers stranded in scoring position on Tuesday.

* Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire could have kept left-hander Leonys Martin in the game to face lefty Tyler Olson in the seventh inning. Instead, he used JaCoby Jones as a pinch-hitter, knowing the Indians would likely counter with right-hander Dan Otero.

Jones had a rough at-bat, going down on strikes in three pitches. After a foul ball, Jones looked at two called strikes from Otero.

The Detroit Tigers broke a 23-inning scoreless streak, but the one run they mustered in the seventh inning wasn't enough.

The Cleveland Indians retook the lead in the eighth inning on a solo home run by Roberto Perez to beat the Tigers 2-1 Tuesday night at Progressive Field.

Tigers reliever Alex Wilson, entering the game after starter Matthew Boyd had tossed seven strong innings, fell behind Perez with two balls. His third pitch, a fastball over the plate, was launched 400 feet into right-center by the Indians catcher.

Matthew Boyd allowed one run on three hits over seven innings. He walked one and struck out four. It?s the second game in which Boyd pitched well in a losing effort. He allowed one run on four hits over six innings in a 1-0 loss to the Royals on April 3.

Nicholas Castellanos was 0-for-3 with a walk. ? Niko Goodrum went 1-for-4. ? James McCann went 0-for-3 and is batting .071 (1-for-14) on the road trip?. Dixon Machado finished 0-for-4.

It was the fourth time in 10 games this season the Tigers have lost a game where they allowed two runs or less. No team in the designated-hitter era has earned that distinction, according to MLB.com.

The Tigers have now lost nine straight to the Indians, scoring three runs or less in all of those games.
