Game 12: Lions @ Saints Thread

Matthew Stafford had the third-best first half completion percentage of his career (82.6, 19-of-23) to lead three scoring drives for Detroit en route to a 13-6 halftime lead in New Orleans over the Saints.
Stafford was helped by his defense, which held the Saints to six first downs and 94 passing yards.

The Saints finally generated a little offense in the final minute before halftime for a field goal drive to trail the Lions 13-6.
Tight end Coby Fleener had a chance at a TD catch but couldn't hang on to the pass that was thrown slightly behind him.
WR Brandin Cooks caught his first two passes of the game on the hurry-up drive ? for 4 and 39 yards ? after his lack of targets has been such a hot-button issue.
But Drew Brees has only thrown for 94 yards in the first half ? compared to 175 by Detroit's Matthew Stafford.

Dwayne Washington questionable with an ankle injury.

The Saints have to feel lucky to only be trailing 16-6 early in the third quarter.
They keep allowing long drives, but then they keep forcing the Lions to settle for field goals.
Matthew Stafford has thrown for 239 yards and a touchdown so far.

Matthew Stafford is now No. 49 all-time in passing yards with 29,098 after that drive. He passed Brad Johnson, who had 29,054 career passing yards.

Detroit Lions QB Matthew Stafford completed 13 consecutive passes, setting a new franchise record for a single game.
The previous mark of 12 was set by Jon Kitna against the Cardinals in 2006.

Saints took deep shot for WR Brandin Cooks, who had a step behind the Lions' defense. But Drew Brees floated the pass a bit and it got broken up. Cooks has two catches for 43 yards today -- the only Saints receiver with more than one catch. Brees has just 108 passing yards.

Lions CB Quandre Diggs is questionable to return with a shoulder injury.

Saints QB Drew Brees intercepted while taking another deep shot for Brandin Cooks on third-and-15.
Cooks got open in a window but Lions S Glover Quin went up high in front of him to make a terrific leaping pick.

Saints' defense trying to keep them alive with the ultimate bend-but-don't-break performance.
They trail 19-6 late in the third quarter after forcing Lions to settle for four field goals inside the red zone.
But Saints offense not helping at all. Detroit leads time of possession 29-14 and yards 306-162.

Matt Prater's field goals so far today:
27 yards
29 yards
32 yards
27 yards

Just awful defense by Austin not putting any pressure on Brees. ..

If someone would have run in and blown Cooks up they would have been flagged for a late hit after the whistle, right??
