if anyone needed any more prrof that our coaches suck.....were a 4-12 team and we punted 5 times. Didnt try a fake or go for it on 4th down once. Not once. Just plain dumb...

So once again the highlight and most anticipated event for Lions fans may very well be next year's NFL draft...This futility-fated franchise very rarely has followed up a markedly worse season with a winning season, much less a mediocre one (by Lions standards), IIRC.

But hey, thanks again Lions for giving us fans the winning '11 season, and greatly raising our hopes that much higher for a consecutive playoff berth, if not an NFCN division title in '12, and maybe even winning that ever-so-elusive second playoff game, ever since the dawn of the Superbowl era.

I knew from years of and years of following the franchise's failings and foibles on the field, that there was always a good chance that the Lions would regress, and they might even fall to an 8-8 or at worst a 7-9 record, given how their schedule played out after the team began the '11 season with a 5-0 record, but as usual the Lions managed to outdo even that pessimistic possibility @ 4-12.

Safety Louis Delmas was asked after the game what he though went wrong with the Lions season.

“I think we got a little too comfortable with last year’s playoff (game),” he said. “I say we’ve just got to continue to work hard and not get too comfortable. Make the plays we’re supposed to make.”

Delmas went on to say that he saw teammates get too complacent after it became apparent the Lions had nothing more to play for.

“When we started going down the drain, 4-10 … 4-and-whatever. That’s when I started to notice,” he said.

That has to be a bit of a scary admission for Lions coaches and front office personnel who have a lot of roster decisions to make this offseason.

Too comfortable?

Too complacent?

Too much losing?

That means that the Lions coaching staff never had or more likely had lost the respect, the attention, or the authority over these chumps...disgusting!!

But it seems like this has happened before, especially under the coaching of Bobby Ross, Rod Marinelli, Marty Mornhinweg, and Darryl Rogers, amongst some others.

Seems like every year the bears start hot then injuries slow them down the stretch.

That made me want to throw up. ONE winning season and they think they made it? That's absolutely laughable. If they really had that mindset then they make me sick. No motivation to get better when majority of those wins last year were obvious miracles.

Why don't they just shut up and stop making it worse?

They(the media) were talking SB at the beginning of the year for the bears. Looked like it through the first half of the year.

hard to overcome a -4 turnover differential; however, the way you do that is by having the guts to go for it on 4th down, especially in the 4th quarter as time is becoming an enemy. even when it was 4th and 6 at their own 13, i'd rather they would have gone for it and failed than to punt and allow them to run out the clock. if u fail, let them score quickly and get the ball back to make another run at it.

of course i would have liked them to go for 2 on their last TD to either close the gap to 1 point so if the bears scored a TD the gap would be 8 instead of 9. if they fail, the gap is at 10 and you are still in position where you need the FG. y not even try to get within 1, try to give the team a better chance?

terrible coaching all year long. no comprehension of how to position themselves into better opportunity for victory. misused TOs, never going for 2 early enough in the game to make a difference, clock management, conservative play calling with the lead instead of trying to put the game out of reach, and...so...much...more.

but hey, the good news is it doesn't appear there will be any changes between now and next year, so we can expect the same for 2013!!!! HOORRRAAAAAAYYYY!!!!!!!!

andy reid and norv turner realized their team sucked and there was nothing to play for....went for it on 4th n longs and they were both successful. Why the fuck are you punting the ball back to aaron rodgers at the end of the game when youre losing and youre a 4 win team. You have faith in your defense? Have you not been coach of the lions all year? Have you not watched your shitty defense? Grow a pair and stop playing to lose schwartz.
