Game 16: Packers @ Lions *Sunday Night* Thread

Well we only scored 6 points at new York in bad weather ..so hopefully we will score more. I will never stop watching this team but we all have a right to bitch about the lions ineptitude. 21.6 points on offense is just not enough. .I will sing their praise if the beat Seattle next week. But man Lions fans WHO buy tickets deserved a home game in my opinion. I am just pissed.

How can anybody be pissed. This team far outplayed its talent this year. Horrid secondary, no pass rush, no run game, receivers that get little to no separation. We had nothing going for us this year, and still made the playoffs. That says something about the grit of this team.

And we play a ton of them next year. Long off season to go but a 5 win caldwell firing type of season is on the horizon.

As much as like dislike the 2 jimmy misfiring system I just cant root for them to lose ever.

I think it's more about the 0-3 finish plus some of the things Caldwell did.. Like going to a different RB after half vs Dallas.

Wait a second . They totally shit the bed up 14-10 at half in the third game in row where our coaching staff was badly out coached in the second half. Its maddeningly.. they have to be better in games they could have won.
Damn mad..

Nah, I'm tired of that argument. I get that they exceeded expectations, it's been a great surprise. But that doesn't excuse them from anything.

This is no longer a team that the experts don't believe in. It's a team that was 9-4 and poised to win a division championship and is now a 9-7 wild card team. THAT'S what they are and they should be treated as such. They shouldn't get a pass all year because of preseason expectations.

Stafford completed 26 of 41 passes for 347 yards, two touchdowns, a late interception, for a passer rating of 96.3.

Zenner rushed 20 times for 69 yards and finished with a career-high 110 yards of total offense with a TD.

Nickel Asa Jackson suffered an injury in the first quarter and did not return. With Quandre Diggs out for the season and Adairius Barnes on the practice squad, Detroit had no choice but to turn to special teams ace Don Carey in the nickel.
Then he got hurt, so Crezdon Butler went in, and then Butler got hurt too. Carey finished the game despite his injury.

Stafford threw one interception late in the game, but the ball-secure Lions still committed only 15 turnovers for the season. That smashes the old franchise record of 20.

Golden Tate finished with six catches for 77 yards. That gives him 90 receptions for a third time in Detroit, something not even Calvin Johnson ever did. Herman Moore is the only other receiver to accomplish the feat.
Tate finished the season with 91 catches for 1,077 yards. It’s the third straight season he’s recorded at least 90 catches in a season since joining Detroit in 2014.

The Lions have now gone 52 straight games without a 100-yard rusher.

Stafford Historical Stats:
With 347 passing yards in Sunday?s loss to the Packers, Stafford surpassed 30,000 yards in the fewest games (109) ever by a quarterback in NFL history. He broke the previous record of 114 set by Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino and quarterback Kurt Warner.

Stafford now has 30,303 yards and has joined Peyton Manning (33,189), Matt Ryan (32,757) and Dan Marino (31,416) as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to throw for 30,000 yards in their first eight seasons.

Stafford fished the regular season with 4,327 passing yards and reached 4,000 yards in a season for the sixth time in his career and for the sixth-consecutive season. By reaching 4,000 yards this season, Stafford joined Peyton Manning as the only quarterbacks in NFL history to throw for 4,000 yards in six of a player?s first eight seasons. He also joined Drew Brees (11), Peyton Manning (six) and Matt Ryan (six) as the only players in NFL history to throw for 4,000 yards in six-consecutive seasons.

Stafford set a new team single-season passing record for percentage of passes intercepted this season. In 16 games, he compiled an interception percentage of 1.7 (594 attempts, 10 interceptions). He broke the Lions record among qualifying quarterbacks that was set in 1998 by Charlie Batch.

Stafford has now totaled 34 career 300-yard games in his first eight seasons and has tied Peyton Manning (34) for the fourth-most 300-yard passing games by a quarterback in his first eight seasons.

With two touchdown passes Sunday against Green Bay, Stafford has now thrown for 187 career touchdown passes. He surpassed Eli Manning (185) for the sixth-most passing touchdowns by a player in his first eight seasons.

Lions Team and Player Stats for 2016 regular season:
With 15 giveaways this season (10 interceptions, 5 lost fumbles), the Lions set a new franchise record for fewest giveaways in a single-season since 1940. This year’s total surpassed the team’s previous best mark for fewest single-season giveaways of 20 accomplished twice (2014, 2004).

Detroit set a new franchise low for interceptions thrown since 1940 with 10 this season, breaking the previous best of 11 in 1974. Five were thrown in the last four games.

The Lions finished the season with one of the fewest tallies of lost fumbles by the team since 1940. Detroit lost only five fumbles this season, which is tied for the second-fewest by the team since 1940.

Linebacker Tahir Whitehead collected seven total tackles against Green Bay and finished the season with a team-best 132 tackles. He became the seventh Lions defensive player (11th time overall) to register 130-plus tackles in a single season since 1994.

Safety Tavon Wilson notched his first career sack on the Packers’ opening drive of the game. He finished the regular season with a career-high 87 tackles, 1 sack and 2 interceptions.

Eric Ebron, rising stats & stock: The third-year tight end has become a more potent receiving force, and the proof is in how his stats compared to others at his position this year.
Ebron ranked 10th among all tight ends with 61 catches in 13 games. He was eighth in yards (711), seventh in yards per game (54.7) and fifth in average gain per catch (11.7) of tight ends with 50 or more catches.

So basically the Packers DB could do DPI and Bak was holding all game but never called. OPI was complete horseshit on Tate. And the 12 men cheap as fuck by Rodgers. Lions had him stopped but Rodgers had to implore his cheap as fuck play to make it 3rd and 5. Refs are supposed to hold up the snap on defensive subs. But they didn't

LOL...more excuses and complaining by LKP

Refs are supposed to hold up the snap for defense subs ONLY if the offense subs as well. The GB offense didn't make any subs.

It's a cheap play by Rodgers. They will change this rule this offseason. It's cheap by Rodgers. He couldn't beat the Lions by making plays, he had to use cheap bullshit.

Also the OPI by Tate was bullshit. DPI by Hyde on the pick. And Bakhtiari the refs just let him hold all game.
