Game 22 Tigers vs. whitesox April 28, 2017

And white Sox win Pelfrey's start verses us. How fitting the way we are playing dang it.

ROARS:
Matthew Boyd: After starting with a rough first three innings, Boyd locked it down and finished with seven innings and only three runs, striking out five batters.

HISSES:
Tigers offense: Facing batting practice starter and former Tiger Mike Pelfrey, Detroit couldn’t pour it on despite multiple scoring opportunities. Their best chance in the first inning yielded a mere two runs and they stranded the bases loaded.

Nick Castellanos’ defense: It was atrocious. He had three errors — two in the eighth inning and it cost the Tigers dearly as two runs ended up scoring for Chicago.

Joe Jimenez: Gave up a two-run home run to left in the ninth in a 5-3 deficit. The honeymoon is over.

NOTABLE

The Tigers scored two off White Sox starter (and former Tiger) Mike Pelfrey in the first, but could have had more. Jim Adduci grounded into a double play after Pelfrey had loaded the bases with a couple of walks.

Adduci had a mishap in the outfield for the second day in the row. He appeared to briefly lose a pop up in shallow right field. He found it and recovered enough to catch it, but he backed off at the last moment. So did second baseman Ian Kinsler, apparently amid confusion over who had called for the ball.

Tim Anderson was credited with a double and he eventually came home to score the White Sox' third run.

The White Sox crushed back-to-back home runs off Boyd. Todd Frazier's was estimated at 430 feet, with a 110 mph exit velocity. Avisail Garcia's shot was 448 feet at 115.5 mph off the bat
