Game 5: Lions @ Packers Thread

Question

Did I hear that Indy went up tempo to change things up.... Holy crap why don't we do that??????

We would have just been screaming that they are idiots for going no huddle because now our defense can't rest at all after our 3 and outs.

Yeah much better than a run for no gain and two drops

That is bullcrap and you know it.. We need a spark on offense besides running it up the gut just about every first down!!!!! A change of pace would have been good... Maybe not hurry up but a faster tempo... We never change anything on offense ever!!!!!

It is always the same old lion bullcrap..

Nothing they did today made me believe they were capable of blocking a punt, scoring, getting an onside kick, and scoring again in 24 seconds.

We had that miracle happen with the 28point explosion years ago against chicago. I don't expect another improbable comeback like that again.

I didn't say it was better or we shouldn't do it. I stated how the board would have reacted had we had 3 and outs with a no huddle.

I agree with you right up to when the Packers broke it open. To keep running it up the gut after that was too much.

It was ridiculous to run it up the gut from pretty much half way through the 3rd on. Made no sense.

I think this team is really on the verge of something great but minus CJ today they had to mix it up and just didnt. The D spent way to much time on the field and played incredibly well today. I know they gave up 22 points but only 2 bad plays and only one cost them significantly.

I liken this team to SF pre-Harbaugh

nah we have a legit offense when Megatron is out there. Today is just a case of not being prepared for the curveball of not Calvin and that is always this teams issue. They never think ahead to worst case scenario like with Best not being able to go. Piss poor planning leads to piss poor performance and thats what happened. We can all sit here and say what this team should have done but they didnt and we are still in first place and only lost on the road to a divisional foe which you aim to split. So we are still ahead of the curve. I am not worried just pissed about today's inability to adapt.

As far as trying to block a punt, couldn't Schwartz just call the play to block the damn punt? I don't see how a TO would help in blocking a punt..

The TO stopped the clock so you had a chance to block the punt. I think they could have ran it down to 0 without the TO and wouldn't have even had to punt.

Why? Granted I have no idea what play you're talking about but don't they have a play called "block punt"?

No calvin blows especially when the oline doesn't show up. They had 4 drives they were moving the ball but only got the garbage time td. I hope houston hamstring bothered him on the 83 yarder or that is bad. Cobb and jones made two plays to win it.

It was the last offensive play for GB. It was 4th down and the clock could have just expired. Schwartz used his last TO to force them punt. People said he was stupid for doing it because we were down 2 td's. If he doesn't call TO then GB just runs out the clock and the game is over. Instead they punted to us with 24 seconds left.
