Game 9: Dolphins @ Lions Thread

It's okay to be critical of things, whether they are going good or bad. The defense has been carrying this team. Stafford still needs to step his performances up to get them to have a special type of year. He has not been good enough, and his heroic comebacks wouldn't be necessary if he led this offense the way he should in the first three quarters.

There are things beyond Staffords control in this offense. He is playing well. But we'll agree to disagree on good vs. average. There is room for improvement but I'd take this play by him every game. Mix his play with better pass pro or run game and actually making FGs, then enjoy the wins with strong defense and offensive firepower.

If it's okay to say the defense has arrived and we have enough of a sample size for them, we can do the same for the offense. And if that's the case, that sucks. This offense was supposed to be a juggernaut. And it hasn't been. Excuses, injuries, whatever. The offense sucks right now. They need to get better.

and who leads the offense? Lombardi and Stafford. They deserve all the criticism for underperforming....when people continue to list excuse after excuse it means youre not very good in the first place. Good coordinators and qbs overcome those excuses.

The offense has been a total let down. The fact that the team is 7-2 doesn't hide the fact that the offense has sucked. If the defense happens to have a bad game in the playoffs, they can be in trouble if they don't figure their shit out.

I'm happier than a pig in shit that the team is 7-2. But there are still glaring holes with this team, as there are with other teams that have winning records. It's not blasphemy to talk about them.

Everyone knows the defense is the reason we are 7-2, its just the one or two Stafford slaps that are picking a new way to try and justify he has been good.

The newest tactic is he does enough on offense to get us a win and that is all that matters, stats don't tell the story, he is a winner.

Pass pro, penalties, run game, missed FGs. That is the biggest problem with the offense, not Stafford.

Blaming on Stafford is just a weak cop out.

You keep saying that this is a complete team...no holes, yet you keep pointing out multiple holes when you defend your boy Stafford.

He's 21st in QBR. He has to be better, bottom line. The team has survived so far with incredible defensive play and timely offensive plays. He needs to be consistently better, 1st quarter to 4th, if this is going to be a special season. You can only fly this close to the sun so much until you get burned.

interesting tidbit on the team chasing us on our tails. Aaron Rodgers hasn't played in the 4th quarter the last 3 home games....because he blows the other teams out so bad. Is it too much to ask for a performance like that every once in awhile?

But its cool to blame others? Offense has been a disappointment all around, that includes Stafford. Difference is no one is trying to argue Joique Bell has been good/elite. There are idiots arguing Stafford has been.

More stats to disprove another statement:

http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/team-offensive-penalties/2014/

Most offensive penalties per game 2014:
1) Patriots 5.3 per game
2) Broncos 5.2 per game
.
25) Lions 3.2 per game

more lkp debunked theories:

lions are 24th in first downs
lions are 16th in 3rd down conversions

Therefor Stafford isn't doing a very good job of getting first downs like he says he does.

we get it tony....nobody is arguing that were not winning. Try to stay on task and come up with something new to blab out on every thread...hopefully something that actually pertains to what other people are talking about. In this instance I was talking about the oline running into injury problems. Do you care to speak on that?

Nah....you don't get it.

Go jerk off into your Aaron Rodgers jersey then. Nobody gives 2 fucks what he's doing besides you lol. Keep winning, Detroit, keep winning so you can bounce right the fuck outta here.

Down and distance (lack of run game) and penalties.

Lions have plenty of offensive penalties that are drive killers. And they have killed a ton of drives. Not all penalties are equal. False start and holds are very different. But of course you guys use a stat with no context.

Giventhe cirucmstances, Stafford gets plenty of first downs.

How have the penalties the Lions have taken on offense been so much worse than the ones New England and Denver have taken?

Why are they going to get burned? Because you said so? This defense looks for real. #1 in the NFL. Why can't they live off that defense? They're 11 weeks in ffs. Do you honestly see the offense completely turning around? I don't. What i do see is an offense getting slightly better week-to-week and a defense that dominates at every level.

Ride it out!!!
