Game 93 Tigers vs. indians July 18, 2019

Avila can shoot for the moon in exchange for Boyd, but it is highly unlikely that any pitching needy contender, absent suddenly losing a #2 or #3 starter to injury for a big chunk or the rest of the season, would give up a highly regarded/ranked starting positional prospect who is near MLB ready for Boyd alone.

My point was that it is MUCH more likely Avila gets jobbed than he gets a steal or steals for the players he might trade, b/c that is what his past history demonstrates. As the trade deadline gets nearer and nearer, Alvy might crack and sell lower, b/c his boss Chrissy wants these players off the current and future roster-payroll ASAP.

And I am well aware that W/L records are mainly a team stat, not just pitching, but his past few months have seen an increase in his ERA, FIP and WHIP, which kinda negates his increase in K/BB ratio.

I probably mentioned this before but I'm not expect a top guy. Just a guy with some potential maybe a top 100 prospect or 2.

A top 100 guy would be a good return (or 2 towards the bottom of the top 100)

As of the most recent ranking I found, Mize is the #2 prospect in baseball, Manning #32, Perez 62 (and falling), Paredes 83

Dunno if I would be satisfied with a #75 or lower for Boyd...would need to be 2 players @ or below that ranking. Even #50 to #74 would have to be other than a 1B...preferably a middle IFer with slightly above average speed, good defense and some potential power.

2 top 100's I'd be satisfied. Though I Prefer a top 40 and 75. But I've seen what Avila is capable of so who knows.

It would be nice if Detroit could find a team that also needed a rhb to add Nick to a trade of Greene or Boyd. On his own, his value probably isn't great, but he could bump up a package of one of the other guys.

Any team trading for Nick cannot get a draft pick if he becomes a FA and they would only have have him for 1/3 a season. Value for his bat is okay as a DH type. Most contenders are NOT looking for a DH type.

Greene's value couldn't be any higher. If they wait until after next season starts, they lose the gaining team the ability to get a draft pick if he walks.

As far as Boyd, he has just 1 Quality Start out of his last 9. (7 out of his first 8). 10 QS of 20 GS is really only a #3 or high #4. But that is if you look at the entire season, which is an outlier to past years. He is trending back to his norm.

Let's not get hung up on the term "top 100" prospect. There are plenty Top 100 that will never develop and be anything in the majors. I want them to use their analytics and get the best package of true "talent". Let them get a Luke Voit type player. A player another team under values and is being blocked. Or you could get trades that returns the likes of Carlos Guillen or Placido Polanco, they don't have to just be prospects.

We are just spitballing here, obviously none of us will be getting a daily summary of any, if any possible ongoing trade negotiations with any ballclub or clubs by the Tigers FO.

I agree...I guess when I say top 100 prospect I just want good talent. I say top 100 because I have no idea what any of these guys really is...I am relying on outside rankings.
