i would definitely prefer shoppach, but im alright with Laird as a backup. he hits lefties alright and hes excellent defensively. the big problem last time he was on the tigers was that we tried to make him a starting catcher, something he is not.

Works for me. It's a backup catcher with a good arm, who knows the staff, and is solid defensively. His bat sucks, but whatever.

Shoppach might have those numbers but .214, .196 and .176 the past 3 years says he sucks at the plate. He was either used wrong or has very few ab's against LHP recently.
