So the piling on and twisting of the neck with intent to injure is ok.. You have no clue what you are talking about if you think that is not a suspend able play. And know it is something you don't see every game let alone every week... Just a terrible a play and you know it...

Alright Bobby boy.....what should Rohs' punishment for this play be??

http://media.mlive.com/grandrapidspress/photo/10150172-standard.jpg

Is it not the EXACT same thing as Gholston the "thug"?

He's already ignored that photo. I've already posted it. That's an intentional neck twist to me, while Sparty is on the ground and declared down.

I would like them to write to their AD or the B1G and ask for a 1 game suspension, but there is a double standard with UM. Time for us to get over it.

Its hard to tell from a pic. Is roh the one that tackled him? Then there's a difference.

If the play was already over and roh came in late and hit him, then grabbed his facemask and pulled it up. Then roh should have been in trouble

I am hoping this issue is dead by tomorrow, it is getting old. I saw this picture days ago but it seems to get ignored. I also saw it live when the MSU player got tossed by his facemask. Why complain about it for a week, it happens in football. If Gholston's actions didnt get flagged I could see a reason to complain but all they did was help UM.

WTF does it matter if Roh is the one who tackled him or not?? There is an MSU player LAYING on the ground and Roh has a handful of facemask and is clearly pulling up on it??

I guess it doesn't matter if a U of M player does it....i'm sure it was a clean, called for, incident.

(sarcasm off)

Holy crap the two plays are not even similar. Give me a break with that photo. That is not even close to what Gohlston did and both of you know it. I looked at the picture and you are both clueless if you think they are even close to the same type of play...Whatever makes you feel better.. BTW he was not even suspended for that... He threw a punch and had to miss a game... MSU is lucky it ia not the whole season after what that clown did... Twisting the helmet and neck after a two step late hit pile on. Both of you have never played football because it was a bush move and you know it and where is the double standard... show me Roe's whole play instead of a still shot.. Did he do it after the whistle before and did he twist the guys neck... The two plays are not even close... Leave it to sparty logic to think so..

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.....whatever you say Nancy. I'm sure the Roh play was nothing short of the definition of a clean tackle. The hand inside the facemask.....tickling. The clear pulling up of the facemask....trying to keep it from getting dirty, clearly. The fact that he is lying down and clearly the play is over....ADHD, couldn't be helped.

You're a joke......just like the current state of your football program.

Big Ten right to suspend William Gholston

By Brian Bennett
It took a little longer than it maybe should have, and it came from the wrong place. But the one-game suspension of Michigan State defensive end William Gholston for his punch at Michigan offensive lineman Taylor Lewan last week is the right call.

Note that this suspension came from the Big Ten office and not from Michigan State. The school took three days to investigate the incident and submit a report to the league, but the Spartans did not recommend any missed game time for Gholston. School athletic director Mark Hollis said the investigation was his attempt "to gather, understand and share with the Big Ten extensive information about what likely contributed to the incident."

Gholston's punch came after he and Lewan got tangled up far away from the play. Lewan appeared to grab Gholston's face mask first, and there has been conjecture that Lewan said something to get under Gholston's skin. Regardless, there is no justification for throwing a punch on the field, and Gholston has to keep his composure in that situation instead of retaliating in a reckless manner.

Add in his earlier personal foul against Denard Robinson -- where Gholston twisted the quarterback's facemask around in a pile while Robinson was defenseless -- and the sophomore deserves a one-game suspension as punishment for his actions. That's not to condemn Gholston, who is young and will learn from this mistake. But it's the right thing to do.

Michigan State could have easily defused this situation and not let it become a hot topic for debate all week by immediately suspending Gholston for a game on Monday. That's what Illinois did with linebacker Jonathan Brown when he kneed a Northwestern player in the groin earlier this season, and everybody quickly moved on from that story. Instead, Mark Dantonio refused to comment on the issue this week while the school conducted its investigation, the results of which look very meager.

This is the same program that reinstated cornerback Chris L. Rucker the same day he was released from jail last year, just before a big game at Iowa. Now it looks, at least to the outside world, that Michigan State was trying to keep Gholston in the lineup for this week's huge game against No. 6 Wisconsin. The situations are clearly different, but the Spartans still come off looking too lenient on discipline.

The Big Ten had to step in and levy the one-game ban on Gholston, and the conference needed to do so. Lest we forget, this is the same league office that lobbied the NCAA to let Ohio State's disgraced tattoo traders be eligible for last year's Allstate Sugar Bowl against Arkansas. That decision appeared more and more ludicrous the more we found out about how deep the Buckeyes' scandal ran, and the conference couldn't afford another credibility-shattering moment here. The Big Ten also doesn't want to set a precedent where players can throw punches on one Saturday and then suit up for the next weekend, no matter how marquee the matchup may be.

Make no mistake, losing the 6-foot-8 Gholston is a big blow to the Spartans' chances against Wisconsin. He was really coming on as a defensive force, beginning with his disruptive work in the win over Ohio State three weeks ago. He's a physically imposing defensive end who could battle the giants on the Badgers' offensive line, and Michigan State's ability to get pressure with its front four is a major key to its success so far this season. Sophomore Denzel Drone is expected to replace Gholston in the lineup; Drone did have a sack and forced fumble in the game against Wisconsin last year, but moving him up means the depth suffers along the line.

But that's the price Michigan State and Gholston must pay for last week's transgression, even if it took the league office interceding to make them pay that cost.

Sorta like how bad your basketball team is going to be soon... Glad you condone piling on and neck twisting of a helmet you clueless piece of crap.

You have cried about this for almost a week, what Gholston did was wrong but suspending a guy for a season is nonsense. You are just pissed your team got owned so you continue to point to this one play. Both plays were over and both players were yanking on facemasks. I played football from pop warner to college so dont come in with that crap. I have been hit with cheap shots and even punched and watched the kid get ejected but never thought once "I wonder if he got suspended". You're are crying for no reason, go wait for your game against Purdue.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa you fuckin baby. I guess maybe the refs should put in personal foul penalty for hitting Michigan players too hard too.

Maybe a 10 yard penalty for name calling.
5 yards for hurt feelings.

Man up Sally.....it's football.

The arguement should have been over a long time ago since none of you get the difference lol

Instead of you guys talking about the wisconsin game, you spend your time over here. Lol

Christ on a teeter-totter. Neither side of this argument will EVER change their minds, so let's move on already.

Fuck Gholston and his bitchass coach. See you next year in ann arbor, scumbag sparty thugs.

That's pretty much my positiom since post #1. It is football. All these excuse maker Sparties whining about mean old Michigan justifying their coach and play.

LMAO. You're still just sparty..

LOL. I hope that's just trolling, 'cause if anyone still believes all that tripe after seeing the unbiased reaction of national writers that have nothing to do with Michigan, they're hopeless.

Geezuuz, i came over to this board to get away from all the trolling crap - let me get a bag of popcorn, cuz this don't look like it's gonna end.

(yeah, "it's football" and yeah it was a cheap-shot and yeah it goes on, but doesn't justify gholston doing it. Mich will man-up and we will be back. msu is a good program now and it will only help the B1G get better. we'll all be better off for it. we'll see sparty next yr in the Big House where emotions will run deep and our annual barometer on our post-rod progress)

Look MSU fans are just here to brag about their most recent and last win for a while. Their last recruiting class was shit and their 2012 class is shit. They can't recruit in state anymore and have no national appeal. They are all about to remember what it was like to lose 6 in a row before DickRod showed up.
