Gholston suspended one game by B1G

enough already this is getting damn repetitive

it isn't why we lost, there was some question of sportsmanlike conduct, big ten has suspended for similar actions in the past'

it is over

I agree with everything except it being over. This specific case is over, but these things will continue as long as Dantonio is HC.

The dirty game plan was not why we lost. We lost because of two plays. But this issue was never claimed to be the reason we lost. Sparty comes here looking for respect, complaining that Michigan didn't shake their hands at the end of the game. They get no respect from me because of the dirty game plan they came in with. They could have won the game even without the dirty game plan and I would have given them the respect they so desperately crave. But they can't even win clean. No respect from me for that kind of game plan to go out and play dirty with intent to injure. Ghoolston deserved a two game suspension, one for each play. Rush also deserves a suspension for the body slam on DR. So, he and MSU are getting off easy.

Trying to use the photo of Roh to try to excuse sparty's dirty game plan is a desperate attempt to deny the truth. And sparty knows it. You can tell that Roh is not grabbing the facemask or twisting, and if it was a personal foul it would have been called. You can see that there is a ref standing right there in the photo! Dumbass sparty! Ghoolston's play was blantantly dirty, as was Rush's. So, don't bring that shit in here sparty to excuse the dirty game plan of your team.

If sparty to bring in a dirty game plan like that against Wiscy, expect there will be stronger action from the Big 10 and the NCAA. I hope that sparty can learn to win clean, this kind of play reflects badly on the state of Michigan. Clean up your act sparty!

I don't think I've seen a single Wolverine try to claim the dirty play had anything to do with why we lost. If anything, the penalties helped keep us in the game. That's why it's clear these Sparties are trolling. They say we're crying and whining, but we're not. If we wanted to cry or whine about something, it would be the dropped lateral that was called a pass. If that play was called correctly, it would have stopped a drive that resulted in an MSU score and it very likely would have been a Michigan score right then and there. Have people been whining about it? No.

I agree it isn't why we lost, however, it gives us an excuse to call the spartans names, and reinforce their inferiority complex, so I do not feel it is repetitive at this juncture.

This thread still has a few dozen more posts in it.

it's friday, so people might start drinking and posting angry comments soon, and things will get entertaining.

You mean the TWO backwards passes ruled 'incomplete' incorrectly, the second time blowing the play dead and then saying the play was over because the Michigan players stopped .....because the ref blew the whistle, Red??

Bizarre and awful officiating on all sides, all game.

As Barkley might say ... turrrible

Yeah, that 2nd one was a pretty big deal. If we were a bunch of whiners, we'd have been talking about it non-stop...but, we know we were beat, so we didn't
... turrrible... turrrible

Barkley would also say: "These referees are stupitt. These referees are jus' dumb."

So if Barkley called Gholston a 'Thug' would he be a racist...?

He's NOT a role model, you know....

So the piling on and twisting of the neck with intent to injure is ok.. You have no clue what you are talking about if you think that is not a suspend able play. And know it is something you don't see every game let alone every week... Just a terrible a play and you know it...

Alright Bobby boy.....what should Rohs' punishment for this play be??

Is it not the EXACT same thing as Gholston the "thug"?

Of course it isn't. He isn't grabbing the facemask; looking at it again, maybe his pinky is on the face mask.

He isn't twisting the helmet, and this is a still shot - we saw Gholston grab the facemask and twist when the ballcarrier was down; this looks like inadvertant contact during a tackle - I'd have to see the video of the whole thing to know for sure.

Let's get one thing straight, touching the helmet of an opposing player is not against any rules. Forcibly grabbing the facemask of an opponent is. In fact, someone should get the exact rule, because 'inadvertent contact' with the facemask is no longer even a penalty.

I'm not even complaining about the actions of the players. None of the players on the team have complained about any rough play and the media is what started this thing, not internet bloggers. I am complaining about the actions of the coaches and now the AD even. Now even Hollis has come out and stated something to the effect that their investigation was not about what happened, but what aggravated it...more defending, this time coming from the AD. We have the AD, head coach, and the defensive coordinator all defending the action and the dc even said that 'unnecessary roughness' was their gameplan. To me this is more the issue than any of the actions.

The actions of the player are pretty simple and no big deal. Throw a punch, get a 1 game suspension. That's been the norm in the B1G for a while now. I think it is interesting that 1 punch gets the same suspension as 1 punch+flying knee drop+helmet twist at bottom of pile+arm bar on Lewan. I find it also interesting that all of these actions only merit 1/4 of the suspension that a player gets for tatts+cash.

i am not questinong the dirty plays or the attitudes or the blind referees and i have sat next to hoke as he tried to be diplomatic in his comments "referre didn't see it" .. then a stare

i think the back and forth with sparty fan is getting pointless

Wojo has a great article and really shows the craziness of the last week. Thank you ML

Um, NO it's not. This is happening DURING the play as Roh attempted to make a tackle. Ghoul-ston's head twist came when the play was dead. Roh was attempting to make a tackle. Franken-Ghoul-stine was following his orders for the week: Get Denard Robinson out of the game...even if gets the Spartans a penalty.

Don't be so fucking thick...
