MSU AD has said that MSU has "been notified of a possible sportslike conduct violation" and now have 3 days to respond....

In other words, "We're going to suspend him, so you better to make yourself look good and suspend him first."

The question is, how many games would the B1G suspend him and MSU doesn't want to "over suspend" him.

The Jonas Mouton incident dictates a 1 game for the punch. I have a feeling the helmet twist on Denard gets nothing.

Dantonio from today's press conference "I wouldn't characterize it as dirty play, I would characterize it as reaction"

Hmmm, there's somebody laying beneath me...there's his head...TWIST!!

Nice reaction. (I know, he was probably talking about the punch)

It was both - he reacted with a dirty play.

Blame it on the steroids or whatever, but dirtbag doesn't begin to accurately describe it.

This is awesome how Michigan fans are consumed by a couple plays that crossed the line. As if it matters to Michigan what happens to Gholston. It makes the win even more satisfying to know that Michigan fans are losing sleep over a couple hits rather than accepting the fact that their team got their asses kicked by a State team that played horrible Saturday, but horrible was still enough to totally humble and humiliate the soft team from Ann Arbor.

I say death penalty for Gholston, how dare that big goon lay a hand on my little darling daughters who play for Michigan? Didn't he know he would be hurting so many classless fans' who can't accept losing feelings? I demand a letter of apology to every single bed wetting Michigan fan who has been crying themselves to sleep since Saturday.

Definitely makes it more satisfying for State fans to see Michigan fans crying and whining for days on end.

You're dead wrong. It's not a couple play by one player. It's a coaching staff that enables and advocates it. ...and then there's the crying about respect.

I don't really care if that roid-rager is suspended or not, but given the similar suspensions last year for Mouton, and for Purdue after RichRod whined to the media, I think they suspend Gholston for one (1) game to remain consistent with precedent.

the helmet twist thing is almost as bad as what Robbie Reynolds of ohio did to Wisconsin's QB (Socco?) a couple years back. I think he was suspended one game for that.

sucks for MSU he's going to be suspended for the Wisconsin game, but hey... don't do the crime if you can't do the time.

the spartan coaching staff can say their happy with it, and characterize it as sour grapes if they want... just don't complain when other Big Ten teams start doing it back.

Well so much for trolls not being allowed on this board. Anywho, I seriously doubt anyone is losing any sleep over this. Curious to see what happens to Gholston? Absolutely. The B1G and NCAA will set a precedent with their rulings on this. Moutan got a 1 game suspension for his punch. Gholston should as well. Plus I'm curious to see if there is any punishment for the head twist. Does that ruling take away from Michigan's loss Saturday? No. State came out and played intense football, kudos to them. State has won 4 in a row, Bravo. But you have to admit there has been some very questionable behavior both on and off the field during Dantonio's tenure so far.

The punch was typical, dumb MSU. I didn't care enough to think twice about it.

The helmet twist was dirty, vicious, and deserves a suspension of a couple of games (which he won't get).

Funny how Spartan fan is condoning the head twist... I have no problem with the punch because Lewan was pushing Golhston's head into the ground... But rules are rules if you forget to take your meds and throw a punch you may get suspended. But the pile on play is indefeasible and i find it funny even spartan fan's are defending it.. Sure we got whipped but that play was intent to injure another player and is unacceptable on a football field unless you play for MSU... Face it mark learned from the Rat liar himself Jimmy (rat ve$t) Tre$$el so look for sanctions coming soon to M$U land...

M$U is just going to delay it three days so the Gohlston can play in the Wisconsin game but will have to sit the Nebraska game.

If notice was given today, then 3rd day would be Friday. Shouldn't they have to have a decision by then? Or do they only count "business days".

There's nothing wrong (illegal) about pushing his head into the ground (unless he got the facemask, which, in one shot, it appeared that he may have), it's what OL's are taught to do. Once your man is on the ground, keep him there. Some do it by falling on them, some keep pushing them down so they can't get up. It was a dirty shot by Gholston in retaliation for getting beat on that play.

The head-twist was just plain dirty.

Did either determine the outcome? No. Should he get at least a 2 game suspension? Yes. Will he? Only time will tell.

Well, the punch is supposed to be an ejection from the game and immediate suspension in the next...unless I'm wrong about that.

as for 'obsessing' about this? Its a bye week and the next opponent is Purdue. This is an issue. It isn't the only issue. I don't think any of us are obsessing about anything. IF anything, we're obsessing about that 1 play more than anything, not the 1 play where Ghoulston did anything. I think we all know what 1 play I'm talking about.

To me, the head twist is worse than Blount's punch. Blount got 7 games for punching a guy running his mouth on the sideline, that probably deserved it. Denard was helpless at the bottom of a pile.
