Gholston update

biggunsbob[/color]]Funny how Spartan fan is condoning the head twist... I have no problem with the punch because Lewan was pushing Golhston's head into the ground... But rules are rules if you forget to take your meds and throw a punch you may get suspended. But the pile on play is indefeasible and i find it funny even spartan fan's are defending it.. Sure we got whipped but that play was intent to injure another player and is unacceptable on a football field unless you play for MSU... Face it mark learned from the Rat liar himself Jimmy (rat ve$t) Tre$$el so look for sanctions coming soon to M$U land...

There's nothing wrong (illegal) about pushing his head into the ground (unless he got the facemask, which, in one shot, it appeared that he may have), it's what OL's are taught to do. Once your man is on the ground, keep him there. Some do it by falling on them, some keep pushing them down so they can't get up. It was a dirty shot by Gholston in retaliation for getting beat on that play.

The head-twist was just plain dirty.

Did either determine the outcome? No. Should he get at least a 2 game suspension? Yes. Will he? Only time will tell.

Exactly, GBiA. Ghoulston is on the ground. Its entirely legal for Lewan to push down on the top of Ghoulston's helmet to keep him on the ground. There is no foul for that. If he grabs Ghoulston's facemask, then its a personal foul. Ghoulston got mad, because Lewan owned him on that play and for no other reason.

This is awesome how Michigan fans are consumed by a couple plays that crossed the line. As if it matters to Michigan what happens to Gholston. It makes the win even more satisfying to know that Michigan fans are losing sleep over a couple hits rather than accepting the fact that their team got their asses kicked by a State team that played horrible Saturday, but horrible was still enough to totally humble and humiliate the soft team from Ann Arbor.

I say death penalty for Gholston, how dare that big goon lay a hand on my little darling daughters who play for Michigan? Didn't he know he would be hurting so many classless fans' who can't accept losing feelings? I demand a letter of apology to every single bed wetting Michigan fan who has been crying themselves to sleep since Saturday.

Definitely makes it more satisfying for State fans to see Michigan fans crying and whining for days on end.

Funny how you throw "classless fans" in when you obviously have no problem with your players deliberately trying to hurt someone on the other team. Talk about classless...

Sorry to upset you Tony two-times, but I had yet to post anything on the matter.

Haven't lost a wink of sleep over the game or feel any better/worse about MICHIGAN because of it.

But I can call a spade a spade and your team's head coach (not presuming you graduated from state or anything) is a fucking asshole and the roid rage behavior indicative of a classless program ... which yours is.

You guys are worrying too much about Sparty. I think you should be more concerned about the rest of your season. Relatively speaking, the past 2 years after you lost to MSU your team underachieved horribly the rest of the way (for whatever reasons).

Best of luck and I hope you finish 2nd in the division.

Yeah, BYE weeks tend to encourage stupid banter.

Unless of course your bye week is ahead of your rivalry game in which case you'd probably only be talking about that one game, completely focused and dedicated to just that one game.

Not worrying.

Just curious.

Are you trying to tell me that if Mike Martin had punched a member of your O line and had tried to twist Cousins's head off you wouldn't be the least bit curious to see if he got punished................

a thread about Ghoulston is not indicative of being worried about Sparty. Its the bye-week. There isn't much to talk about. Sparty and Ghoulston are both fresh on our minds.

Was it really the MSU game that caused a collapse or just an increase in SoS? The games get decidedly harder from here on out and that has nothing to do with Sparty.

I am certain they and the players would be concentrating on Idle...

Let's not forget, it doesn't matter what the fans talk about. Focusing on the rest of the opponents is what the players and coaches need to do. Fans can focus on whatever they want.

Yea, I hear you, but the fact is that the punishment doesn't directly involve Michigan. It only does if Gholston cant play against Bucky and in turn MSU loses because of that (he won't make the difference in the outcome) This thread should be in the MSU section but we are clearly out numbered here. If UM won the game I'm sure most of you wouldn't care.

Anyway bye weeks are beyomd boring, and conversation is limited.

I do think it was a combination of SoS and mental issues the past years. Losing to Sparty for UM is discouraging and clearly RichRod didn't do what was needed. Its hard to tell because B1G is weaker this year.

With that being said, I don't see another collapse like last year with Hoke. The program has a different aura/feel to it.

Unless MSU is thinking of letting go of Dantonio and none of us are aware of it, this does involve Michigan. There have been 3 times the unnecessary roughness, personal fouls, and roughing the passer penalties from MSU than from Michigan since Dantonio was hired. It's a rough enough game when people follow the rules. Denard didn't get a neck injury by some miracle, but imagine if he had. We dodged that bullet this time, but it was luck, and with Dantonio at the helm, we'll have to dodge it again.

Roid Rage....

And when Vern got off the JUICE, he was exposed as a BUST. Who was on staff when he was at Ohio*, again?

But Karma's a bitch. Who knows, maybe next year in A2 some DB rolls up on Dantonio's leg and blows out his ACL.

Well so much for trolls not being allowed on this board. Anywho, I seriously doubt anyone is losing any sleep over this. Curious to see what happens to Gholston? Absolutely. The B1G and NCAA will set a precedent with their rulings on this. Moutan got a 1 game suspension for his punch. Gholston should as well. Plus I'm curious to see if there is any punishment for the head twist. Does that ruling take away from Michigan's loss Saturday? No. State came out and played intense football, kudos to them. State has won 4 in a row, Bravo. But you have to admit there has been some very questionable behavior both on and off the field during Dantonio's tenure so far.

Seriously. Anyone who condones such behavior by Gholston is quite classless. Show some respect. You got owned by Lewan on that play and retaliated like a child--by hitting. Kudos to you being a baby. Wolverine fans aren't losing sleep over the punch, the other play, however, is absurdly overkill on Gholston's part. Shows what a true thug he is.

Dantonio will probably leave it up to Gholston on whether he is suspended or not. He has allowed his players to commit crimes on and off the field without repercussions. He is on a slippery slope with his win at all costs and it will bite him sooner rather than later. Sims was back on the team shortly after his legal problems were cleared up. He said he had a 0 tolerance policy then Chris L Rucker gets another DUI then is allowed back on the field minutes after he is released from jail.

Wouldn't Gholston get 1 game for the neck twist, and 1 game for the punch?

thing i read says he could get a suspension up to 50% of the remaining contests...we'll see.

Not playing the race card, and you have no idea about my racial background, but I'm 99% sure most of you wouldn't be calling Gholston a "thug" if he was white.

For saying Gholston needs to show some class, some of you need to look in the mirror.

You are playing the race card and it's wrong to play it. Race has nothing to do with it.
