List comes from Hall of Fame, except for those not eligible.

Pretty easy, Williams or Bonds... Even without roids..

I'd take R. Henderson over Bonds with or without roids.

Ty, reason for Stan Musial not here?

Ted Williams,
Musial,
Rickey,
Al Simmons

That's quite the list. Musial p.ayed more in the OF but actually played more at 1B than LF.

I am using the Baseball HOF to determine positions. Musial is listed as a 1b.

Gotta go Williams with Bonds a close second.

I'd take Williams, Rickey, Al Simmons, and Yaz over Bonds. Anything he accomplished after '98 is of questionable legitamacy

Suppose I can call the last poll. Cobb wins 13-10 over Mays.

Maybe so, but baseball hasn't thrown those numbers out.

Not getting into a roids debate, Barry Bonds is quite possibly a top 3 player of all time. I'll chalk him up as #2 behind Babe Ruth.

Cuz they can't without admitting culpability, but we all know he was a fraud...the Milli Vanilli of baseball.

That may be true but he played and the games counted. Just on numbers and actual watching the guy was one of the all time greats. He cheated but, he was still great no matter how flawed those numbers are now.

Without roids, Bonds is not in the conversation. During his true peak, he was not even the best player in baseball---Griffey Jr. won player of the decade for the 1990s.

But he did take roids and he was the best..thats all I'm saying. What happened did and whether you like it or not he produced. I'm not saying it's fair that he took roids to be the best but it is what it is. If I could have Barry Bonds or Ted Williams in the state they played in the MLB I'm taking Barry.

Yes, but the numbers were inflated. He could not crack the All Century Team...so how is a declining superstar #2 all time without cheating?

I have a hard time comparing guys from different generations. Back when Williams played it was a different game with inferior athletes.

I don't think many of today's players would last long back then. The game was tougher. They'd go home crying to mama. Many of the greats would be great in any era. Bob Feller or Walter Johnson are still going to throw around 100 MPH. Ted Williams is still going to be able to turn on a fastball. On the other hand, someone like Bonds is not going to be able to go to bat with a wuss pad. Roger Clemens is not going to be able to take 5 days off to be at home. Guys are not going to be able to take a day off for a hang nail.

On the other hand....the athletes of today are significantly better than the athletes of that generation. Speed, strength, etc. Hitting today is significantly more difficult given the lower mound and smaller strike zone.
