Hate for Sparty Thread

Sparty fans have a lot of trouble 'getting it' - there's no 'friendly' in the rivalry from their end.

Case in point above or as is the case with a Sparty in our AP dept who said I was 'harassing her' by typing 'Go Blue!' At the end of my expense report emails.

you're the lone spartan fan now, but there were a few more a couple weeks back, telling us how crappy Michigan and ND looked and how they were going to stomp both teams this year...

Panties in a bunch??

Only one reply to the JOKE thread resembles War & Peace......and it weren't written by a Wolverine (Walmart or otherwise)

No team's fans have a reason to be arrogant. Confident and proud? Yes, but arrogant just makes you an asshole and reflects poorly on the school you root for. So if State beats Michigan for the 4th year in a row Saturday, I wont be arrogant, I'll be proud that we've fielded better teams than our rivals down the road for a nice stretch and I'll be happy that Michigan fans will seethe for another full year.

What one considers proud and confident, their rival often interprets as arrogance. It goes both ways.

Your post didn't get my panties in a bunch. Your post was fully of stupidity and misinformation. I pointed that out. Pointing out that a stupid post is stupid, doesn't mean that I have my panties in a bunch.

exactly! I don't know about Jonny, but 99% of MSu fans that I know root for Michigan to lose every single game they play. He claims that 'they' root for MIchigan to win some games. That is total bs and he knows it. My friend who I watch football games with every saturday said it best last friday, "I'll come over around 2 and watch until 7, then I'm going home, because we'll be rooting for different teams during the NW-Michigan game."

Anytime any Michigan fans says "Go Blue," be it in a crowded room or otherwise, these MSU fans act like its said to them and as an affront to them. Why is it that MSU fans take UM fans saying "go blue" as some sort of insult? They get really mad if we even say it within earshot of them. I don't get that.

The whole Walmart Wolverine/Walverine stuff is just stupid, their are large numbers of fans from both schools that never went to the Universities.

Which reminds me one of my childhood friends. This guy was a huge U of M fan all his life going into high school, then when he applied for U of M and was shot down because his grades were not good enough, what did he do? Well he applied for MSU, got in and became the biggest Michigan Hater I know. About 33% of the MSU fans I know have this same story...

WOW, just WOW.

You guys are really something.

I have concluded that anyone who feels the need to cut another down the way many of you have has an issue with......

SELF ESTEEM.

MSU 31- UM 30

So you're saying that jonny has no self esteem? ok. I don't see Michigan fans cutting down MSU fans. You could be imagining it, i guess.

We don't need to; we like to. Michigan Sparty University is a big, fluffy, green-and-white pinata. With the same shape as the traditional pinata. If you are following me.

Johnny2x2x has never been around Ohio* fans. If Michigan was playing Iraq, they would root for Iraq. I was at a BW3 when UM lost to Appalachian State and the buckeye fans were gleeful. Tell me you weren't happy to see that...

Wait, I'm totally confused now ..... Are MICHIGAN fans arrogant AND lacking in self-esteem simultaneously?!

Isn't it the non-recognition of Sparty that makes them so mad .... that MICHIGAN fans don't worry as much, don't hate as much and don't frankly care as much?!

I don't live in MICHIGAN either and am always a bit surprised at how 'intense' the rivalry seems when I am. Last summer, while Up North for a family event for a week, I couldn't help but notice a sudden increase in the number of "Spartan" houses in the area, when compared to just a few years ago.

Now that additional Sparty Pride wouldn't be related to winning a bit more frequently lately in football, would it??

I shared this on the old forum years ago and I doubt anyone remembers it (or me for that matter) but I am a lifelong UM sports fan and MSU undergrad alum who never could adjust to liking MSU sports while in EL. I got into UM but I chose to go to MSU. I was born in Ann Arbor and all family went to UM except me.

All through undergrad my MSU buddies gave me crap about it, but they were cool. There were a lot of UM fans at MSU and I know there were MSU sports fans in Ann Arbor. I guess Im a walverine.

I loved going to MSU. I love EL, but when it comes to sports I could never "switch" to MSU. Still can't 20 odd years afer graduating. I can't hate MSU--that would be wrong. Go MSU academics but Go blue!! Go Lions, Tigers and Wings and Pistons, too.

And now I live in Madison, WI and I despise the Badgers--more so their fans...does this equalize the pressure?

MSU

The schools my A2 townie friends went to so they could get out of dodge.

In a perfect season, Michigan would win every game, and MSU would win every game but 1. Sort of how I feel about my little brother. I wish him the greatest of success, except when he competes with me...then I want to win, more than against just about anyone else.

You mad bro? Also, check out your fan base...http://michiganstate.247sports.com/Board/Michigan-State-Spartans-Message-Board-Forum-93 It would appear quite a few Spartan fans have self esteem issues.

Why would I be mad, just pointing out the obvious, and ALL OF YOU prove me right daily. You guys don't realize how stupid you sound, then again, maybe you do, must be that arrogance thing again.
