Hoops HC Candidates

Offer has officially been made to Howard. Negotiations proceeding now.

Hope this is done by the end of the day. For what it's worth, Juwan's wife tweeted out Go Blue a bit earlier. Seems like they just need to agree on numbers and it's done.

beat me to it.

I'm underwhelmed but I don't think there were any options this late in the cycle that I would have been very happy with. JB really left them in a lurch. They could've done worse I suppose.

The few home run candidates shot down the rumors quick.

After that, you are left with what's available, and I think JH is at or near the top of that list.

I guess it's not official until Wolverine Devotee posts a thread on it....

It seems like ex NBA players don't turn out to be good NCAA coaches. I guess there is always a first

A week ago were we devastated that Beilein left and now elated that Howard is on board? My expectations will not begin for Howard until the following season. This a four-year deal in my opinion, unless someone can convince me that he was assuming head-coaching responsibilities in Miami. I know nothing about his ability to lead a college basketball program and neither does any one else.

Me too. Just not who I thought we could get. It feels rea underwhelming to me also.

I am just curious. Which one of us on this board said we were going to start beating Msu right away under Howrd? Maybe I didn’t look hard enough because I do not see any of us posting that ?

I don't know but I wonder what the records were before? They did replace a fired head coach..

Anyway, Pat Riley was a good coach as a former player. Doc Rivers, Billy Donovan, Doug Collins (Though he had Jordon), Don Nelson, Carlisle, Jerry Sloan, Larry Brown, George Karl, and Phil Jackson. NBA not NCAA but successful nonetheless.

College wise I know John Thompson played in the NBA, for 2 years. Tony Bennet of UVA played in the NBA. A stretch but Cuonzo Martin, played in the NBA :). Maybe some I don't know about but it gives me hope.
