Hoops vs Houston

The only thing I can say about the 3 and then the foul is that the foul was called right when or after the ball went through the hoop. So it was separate, and Michigan was awarded the 1-1. But I'm not sure.

It was bad calls both ways. Wagner got 2 just horrible calls against him. One for moving his feet and playing defense, the other for taking an elbow to the head.

A couple of the calls on Wagner were pretty much BS (been watching that happen to Jaren Jackson all year). However, I'm seeing stuff in the press about how Robinson has improved as a defender, and from where I'm sitting he could be called for a foul on darn near every play as he pretty much has to clutch and grab every time because he can't hang physically.

That game last night kind of showed me that our perimeter defense sucks. In 2 games vs UM, Simpson, Matthews, and Rahkman all got to the rim basically at will. And against other teams it might be that they light us up from 3 instead. It is probably why matchups are so important in college basketball. Wagner can draw the shot blocking help defenders away to make those driving lanes work. However Houston's perimeter defenders were able to for the most part keep the UM perimeter guys in front of them and as a result it was much harder to score.

If the opponent ends up being UNC for UM it will be interesting to see how that game goes. They looked horrible when they played us. It was one game where we actually did defend on the perimeter as Berry couldn't get a clean look and May had a horrible game trying to get shots off vs JJJ. But they've shown to be a much better team than that game showed. I didn't see the UM-UNC game in the B1G-ACC challenge, and obviously UM is playing much better now than then. A&M is a capable team though, so can't assume too much there.

I think simpson played only a few minutes back in this game. He hadnt been playing. We did not play that good verses unc lol.

Regarding not covering the in bound at the end, Michigan only needed two points to tie and they had been struggling badly from outside the arc. Many of the threes were complete airballs. So, perhaps Houston's coach was thinking to cover inside the arc and force the three hoping it would be another airball or miss. In the end the ball didn't go to one of the seasoned guys, but instead wound up in the hands of a freshman. If you are Houston who would you want to be making the desperate last second shot other than a freshman? And the shot was from well outside the arc. So, I think it played out as Houston had hoped up to the point that Poole's shot went in. I still can't believe Poole's shot went in! Nothing but net!

Yep. If someone is on the inbounder (and heck grab your tallest guy off the bench to defend it if you have to), that pass to Rahkman doesn't happen and you're left with either trying to play a shorter pass off to the side and wasting more time to get it up the court, or throwing one up high down the court and hope someone like Wagner who has a couple of inches on the Houston kids can go up and get it and then make a play. But you're a talking a perfect Hail Mary from guys that aren't exactly NFL quarterbacks.

At the very least Houston should have put their extra guy closer to half court to make that entry pass more difficult.

Livers played baseball or football I think . They talked about something after his long throw in the Maryland game to maar who dribble and was fouled . Livers does have a good arm.

Livers played baseball at Kazoo I think.

Like that fucking kid who bypassed Michigan for the Hall of Fame.

About $250.

That's about what it looks like a ticket to the Western Regional Semi Final at Staples Center would cost.

The wife doesn't want to go - I would go alone, and take the train downtown - it's pretty easy from my house now....

So...what do you guys think?

I've never lived where Michigan has played in the post season in basketball before.

I've been to a few Rose Bowls, and the wife and I drove out to Phoenix about five years ago and met up with Vic and GoBlueBigJohn when the football team got spanked by Kansas State.

I think the wife thinks I should go.

Trey Burke was honored with the Wooden award here in 2013, but a ticket to that was like three grand.

I could take a trip to Bangkok and bang a hundred Asian hookers for that.

They just showed Poole doing the same shot at the buzzer in a high school game .

If $250 doesn't break the bank, you should go; you may not get another chance like this.

There is no bank.

I'm so in the hole that another $250 on the credit card isn't even a dirt drop over my soon to be stone cold coffin in the ground.

This is a joke...but...

Based on the emptiness we've seen so far in the stands, maybe going to Staples Center and trying to get a ticket at street sales prices might be the way to go...

There was a Michigan fan yelling through the first two games, and I'm not saying you should shut her up, but if she's at the next one, could you get the microphone guy to direct his microphone somewhere else.

The yelling fan Was identified as someone in the pep band-and it was probably an issue of microphone placement

Yeah that was really annoying. Houston's people were way worse, though. Not sure I'd want to play them in their building.

It was a microphone placement issue in the first game. They should've corrected it for the 2nd game. That shit was horrible. Put something in her mouth.

Jb, Wagner , and Poole in the presser after the game watch Wagner as Poole is talking . He still can't believe it went in . The look on his face is fantastic a few times right before he talks. Jb said when they scrimmaged last week Poole hit a half court shot and then the game winner later to beat the starters .
