The only thing I can say about the 3 and then the foul is that the foul was called right when or after the ball went through the hoop. So it was separate, and Michigan was awarded the 1-1. But I'm not sure.
It was bad calls both ways. Wagner got 2 just horrible calls against him. One for moving his feet and playing defense, the other for taking an elbow to the head.
A couple of the calls on Wagner were pretty much BS (been watching that happen to Jaren Jackson all year). However, I'm seeing stuff in the press about how Robinson has improved as a defender, and from where I'm sitting he could be called for a foul on darn near every play as he pretty much has to clutch and grab every time because he can't hang physically.
That game last night kind of showed me that our perimeter defense sucks. In 2 games vs UM, Simpson, Matthews, and Rahkman all got to the rim basically at will. And against other teams it might be that they light us up from 3 instead. It is probably why matchups are so important in college basketball. Wagner can draw the shot blocking help defenders away to make those driving lanes work. However Houston's perimeter defenders were able to for the most part keep the UM perimeter guys in front of them and as a result it was much harder to score.
If the opponent ends up being UNC for UM it will be interesting to see how that game goes. They looked horrible when they played us. It was one game where we actually did defend on the perimeter as Berry couldn't get a clean look and May had a horrible game trying to get shots off vs JJJ. But they've shown to be a much better team than that game showed. I didn't see the UM-UNC game in the B1G-ACC challenge, and obviously UM is playing much better now than then. A&M is a capable team though, so can't assume too much there.
