Hoops vs IU

I hope Howard was paying attention - Izzo and the Spartans just gave a clinic on how to almost but not quite blow a 20pt 2nd half lead.

Michigan had the ball at least 2 times up 17 points. Both times I think they turned it over so we never had a chance to be up 20. Although I was listening to it on the radio even though we built up a big lead in the first half I felt the lead should been 20 at halftime. All starters played a lot of minutes. Was Hunter ok after his sickness. Hunter played 33 minutes. He was 7-12 so my guess was he didn?t get many second half shots. 8 of the last 12 turnovers were in the second half. So frustrating we had so many in a row. Once the Avalanche started no one seems to be able to stop it.
Coach has to come up with something to help his players. I sure hope Howard learns from this.

So maybe we have to sweat.
Espn Joe lunardi had us as a 10 seed before the Indiana game.

But cbs Jerry palm had the Indiana Michigan game as a possible elimination game.

This is likely an elimination game for the loser. It definitely is for Indiana. The Hoosiers are lacking quality wins, have not done well against the better teams on their schedule and aren't good away from home. They are also below .500 against teams in the top three quadrants.

Michigan needs this win to be guaranteed to finish four games above .500, which has been the unwritten minimum standard for an at-large team in a full season. The Wolverines might still get in even with a loss, because they have played a top-five schedule, but I wouldn't want to take that chance.

It really sucks.. team wasn?t coached very well this year. Over hyped and overrated. They never should have had this bad of a record.

Still 34th in the NET. https://bracketologists.com/date/2022-03-10

Bracket Matrix still has us as a 10 seed. http://bracketmatrix.com/

Jerry Palm is about the least reliable bracket predictor out there. I wouldn't worry about his opinion.

I know . That?s my point. Seems like the offense flowed better. Should have worded it differently. I just feel that Hunter and MD create spacing problems on the floor when they are both out there together. When it works it looks great but Howard needed to do something different when it was falling apart. I really feel Howard didn?t use his substitutions very well. The offense looked great in Columbus. I just don?t get it.

We don't really have any other option. Can't start Johns in place of Moussa. Can't start Williams in place of him either. If Kobe could start at the 3, then maybe you can slide Houstan to the 4 and play a small ball lineup. I don't think that would work very well in the B1G. Houstan just isn't physically ready for that on the defensive side. Kobe wasn't ready to play starter minutes at any point this year anyway.

One of the biggest issues, if not the biggest, was the recruiting at the 2/SG before Juwan took over. Here are JB's recruits at the 2 since 2018:

2018 - Adrian Nunez
2019 - No one

That left Juwan with Eli as the combo guard/2. Nunez was the only other option on the roster and we all know he can't play at this level. Juwan brought in Zeb his first recruiting cycle at the 2, but Zeb has admittedly had some mental health issues and he's transferring to try and better himself. Chaundee Brown was a huge deal to get as a transfer. We really needed a guy like Chaundee this year.

It was a rough transition at that position and the staff really needs to focus on building depth there now.
