If MSU makes the Final Four then it's the most accomplished team since 2009 or 2010, but "best" is a pretty subjective thing. Last year's team had more talent and accomplished a lot but wasn't experienced enough. The 2016 team appeared to be capable of winning it all, until the unthinkable happened in Round 1. 2014 same deal but injuries somewhat derailed that team (and a poor effort vs UConn in the Elite 8). 2014 was certainly more talented than this team. 2012 (Draymond's senior year) won a share of the BT regular season, the BTT and grabbed a #1 seed. That team reminds me some of this year, except they lost in the Sweet 16, so let's not hope for a repeat of that.
If it's MSU's best team in awhile it's not by much and has a lot of competition.
UM should be very good next year. They should return at minimum 4 starters. But in order to win the Big Ten, a better bet is hope those players progress and they go out and take it rather than relying on MSU to drop off (which has only happened a few times here and there over the past 22 years). I'd expect MSU to be very good again returning at minimum Winston, Langford (assuming he's healthy), Tillman and Henry, Ahrens with 1 potential impact newcomer (Watts). Ward is a question mark but if he returns, the top 10 is a pretty good bet again. If not, some other people need to grow up, but still a good team. I do fear we might miss McQuaid and Goins more than we realize though.
