How come you guys don't do a kickoff countdown?

I don?t feel like starting that thread.

If somebody else wants to they can.

Or if somebody just wants to start bumping the current countdown thread at day sixty every day for 60 days, someone could do that.

you could have multiple threads going - a countdown for each game, you could even countdown to off weeks (that would have been a good thing for Spartan fans last year and in 2016!). Sort of like that thing where you have different parts of the choir start a song at different times so they're all singing at once but different lyrics - I can't sing and pretty much haven't since my last music class in elementary school (except to make my kids and/or wife laugh) so I don't know the term for that but I assume, since you have a singing background, you can enlighten me. Anyway, it could be like that, but with countdowns to uofm games.

If you really, really want to use Tom Harman, on the opener you can start a "Countdown to the 1 Week Anniversary of the 2019 OSU" Game thread...

It?s called a fugue.

The rest sounds exhausting.

For the State of Michigan, and for my dear sweet Spartan cousin...

Go Green, Go White.

Today, Go Green, Go White.

he was awesome but still a fairly obscure reference particularly from a non-Spartan. I was impressed.

Edit: and to answer your earlier question, Herb Haygood wore #2, speedy wide receiver and return man probably best remembered for a reception on 4th & 10 that he took 60+ yards to the house late in the 4th quarter to beat ND. More recently, Will Gholston wore #2 for the Green & White.

Good ole Herb Haygood. I remember him beating me on a deep ball in high school right before half-time only to drop it. Ahh the memories of high school football.

Hey, the Spartans play today.

4 PM Hollywood time.

I might just watch that, or part of that.

Go Green, Go White.

For today.

Dantonio's breakdown I heard on the radio this morning: Their coach has been there five years. We'll be ready to play. Their coach has been there five years.

Not a lot to go on.

They?ll play three quarters of each quarter as a stand-alone experience in and of itself.

That?s five years divided into four quarters.

Also five years is the average amount of time a death sentence prisoner in Oklahoma spends on death row.

So there?s also that.

I will say this in all seriousness. This year is my final straw with Dantonio. I?ve ripped him an entire year now for this bullshit offense and the comical coaching carousel. If this offense isn?t semi functional this year as in can score bare minimum 25+ a game average I want him gone no questions asked.

Anything short of 30 tonight against Tulsa and I?ll be livid. Just win the damn game too.

The ND game in 2000 was one of my earlier memories of Spartan football. The first was the Michigan game the year prior. My dad printed off the fight song lyrics for me after the game and I memorized them.

So the offense has to generate 3 TDs and three FGs?

Are you from Florida? I guess it's good for you he dropped that one and good for us he held on when it counted!

I was at both those games as an alum - was a season ticket holder until I moved to NY in '02 and I never left early. That game and the night game at Spartan Stadium where we blocked a punt for a TD on the opening series then just steam rolled them were probably my favorite nd games that I've seen live.

Well, since the first quarter is already over and there’s no game thread, we people who have standing interest in this game might as well use this unimaginably dumbass thread as the game thread.

I have the Spartans covering 23 points.

Sparty leads 7-0.

It's 15-0 Spartans. Somehow MSU did not kick an FG from Tulsa's 9 unless there was a fake failed or a botched snap, which we know too much about.

Yeah, he played at Sarasota and was a year older. Yeah, I'm glad he dropped that one and then helped us best Notre Dame a couple years later. I also played against Ernest Graham (Gators and then Bucs), he was 2 years older. He was a beast, scored 5 touchdowns against us. I would talk to him after football and basketball games, he was really down to earth. I told him to go to MSU and he said they have to many good running backs.
