it is a tradition and to borrow a term from tinsel, a "cute" one, which for the record, i think if you enjoy it, have at it.

its a little dorky, but its your tradition so I avoid the desire to troll it, like correcting wolves24 by adding "co-" and a "FIFY" to every post with a player from the 1997 co-champion team. I'm sure it would be taken as a major afront rather than the good natured ribbing it is and set off some of the angrier posters who take themselves too seriously over there.

then how do you explain the kickoff threads for RichRod and Hoke seasons? I mean besides the 3 years Dennard Robinson won the September Heisman, that was something to get fired up for.

I don't remember doing them for RichRod; we were on the ESPN.com boards in those days. I certainly wouldn't have participated in getting excited for RichRod football... I was against him halfway through his first season, after we lost to Toledo at home, and he and all his fanboys claimed we didn't have enough talent to compete with bad MAC teams.

Hoke? sure. we were all excited for Hoke. even prior to his last season... he had hired Doug Nussmeier from Alabama to be OC, so we had some hope he'd be able to turn the offense around.

The defense wasn't terrible; kinda like you guys now. But alas, Nussmeier turned out to be worthless.

it took 2 weeks but they finally got a "Michigan Wins" thread to celebrate squeaking by Army. and, predictably there were several posts where it was explained that Paterson is the better option at qb because he's the one the coaches have decided to start and if Mcaffrey was better than paterson then the coaches would start him - end of discussion, it's just that simple.

I do find the whole narrative that ?Patterson is better because the coaches wouldn?t start him if he wasn?t? funny. Based on numerous in game bonehead coaching decisions Saturday idk how one can make that claim. If I were a Michigan fan Saturday would have been a reckoning for me with Harbaugh.
