#2 I would not want him anyhow. We need real corner OF'ers after the shit we had this year, we need guys who produce, and drive in runs. I'd love Torii Hunter, I would have liked Soriano, but Ichiro is a singles hitter and occasional base stealer, who's time at being good at the plate is coming to an end.

Obviously Hamilton would be great, but he's not reliable and going to cost a fortune, I think we can get Hunter for 2 years at about 17 million.

His time isn't coming to an end, it's at an end, and has been since the start of last season.

Ichrio's offensive value is entirely dependent on hitting for a great average, without that he's a liability on offense, and he's no longer a .300 hitter, so he's no longer useful at the plate.

small sample size, especially compared to what he's done the rest of the last few years. theres no reason to think that those numbers arent an aberration given his age and decline.

I get that but he wouldn't be the first that got tired of a losing team and stats showed it. But his defense alone even with bad hitting is better than BB and some other guys. Yeah would I like to get a good COF this off-season, damn straight and some would be better than Ichiro. But there is no guarantee we will. He won't come here anyway but to say he sucks, especially with our OF problems is a bit short sighted.

We can improve defense by simply getting an average defender in RF, that will improve our defense considerably.

We could easily trade for a AAAA player that will suck at the plate and play league average defense in RF, those types of players are a dime a dozen.

No point in spending money on things like that.
