I hope the tigers sign ichiro to a 1 or 2 year deal

small sample size, especially compared to what he's done the rest of the last few years. theres no reason to think that those numbers arent an aberration given his age and decline.

cant blame the guy....he got bored of being on a shit team in seattle. Turned it on when it mattered. Hes been great for the yanks.

BJ Upton is intriguing but that dude is most likely going to get a 100 million dollar contract and despite the upside has been an enigma at times.

I hate to be the killjoy on this thread but Ichiro/Ross/Pagan are the most legit options without ballooning the payroll to phillies/red sox territory.

I know I brought up Ross and his numbers are far from amazing but he's essentially DY offensively with a much better OBP and glove at what is likely to be about a million or two less per year.

Pagan has the most upside of the legit options.

What about Josh Hamilton? He may be cheaper than Hunter after the game 162 debacle.

Why don't we change Who Cares into Stephen Drew? Good defense and a year removed from his injury. His bat may comes back but defensively alone he is an upgrade over Jhonny.

If someone is willing to give a career .255 hitter who had an OBP under .300 last season 100m something is seriously wrong. I don't see him garnering anything over 65 million on the market this offseason.

He will probably be in the 6 year 65m range and considering that contract NO WAY do I feel he would be a good fit for Detroit.

his qualifying offer is 13 million per so look for him in that range per year.

you're right in that 100 million is a bit high (going for the hyperbole) but I do see him getting more than 10 million per season.

fortunately we are in agreement that he is not worth the cost either way although I'd bet Illitch and DD would take a hard look if they could get him closer to the 10 million dollar range.

Elvis Andrus could be a nice option on the trade market to play SS. With the Rangers obvious need for pitching and having their top overall prospect be a SS ready for the majors it has been mentioned the Rangers would be willing to trade Andrus this offseason.

Would definitely need to be something with Porcello being a center piece.

would of course love to see the tigers pick up a guy like andrus but I can see the Rangers trying to move Kinsler first....they are a franchise with some big changes in store this offseason tho.

I also question whether the rangers would deal to Detroit (for competitive reasons) and also whether Detroit could come up with good enough pieces to make it work. I think Andrus would definitely take Castellanos imo.

Kinsler actually just signed a 5 year 75 million contract extension this season.

and yet still very tradeable.

if you're the rangers out of prufar, kinsler, beltre, and andrus who would you trade?

Kinsler has a slightly friendlier contract and is younger than beltre and is playing the postion that is probably an easier transition than 3b (for prufar or andrus) which increases his ability to be traded over that of beltre.

I know if I'm the rangers there is no way I trade Andrus but you never know...I could be way off base here.

The way the fans have turned on him I'd be surprised to see Hamilton in a rangers uni next season....Yankees here he comes.

I highly doubt he will be with the Rangers next season but I think its also highly unlikely he ends up in NY as well. NY has a few issues with their own free agents to worry about with Cano and Granderson entering the last year of their contracts and Swisher/Soriano/Kuroda being free agents this offseason. Also it was noted that NY was shooting to get the overall payroll under the 200m mark.

There will be several suitors for him this offseason for sure though.

Texas, Boston, Baltimore, SF, LA Dodgers, Seattle and possibly even throw in the Tigers just to name a few.

Yea but it is the Yankees and it would have to appetizing for them with Hamilton on the market...Granderson is up on option (which I'd think they'd pickup but 15 million for a guy who once again cannot hit lefties is rough) and if they did have both I'd think that means Curtis is gone after next year.

I don't see them bringing back Swisher because some gullible fool will overpay him.

just letting rivera retire/walk along with letting swisher go frees up roughly the 25 million for hamilton without adding payroll...not to mention R.Martin is also a FA and I can't forsee him coming back either at almost 10 million per.

The Giants are an interesting option for Hamilton with the Zito deal finally coming to an end in 2014 and Tim Lincecum pitching his value way down for his impending 2014 FA campaign. Solid finanical flexibility down the road.
