I hope the tigers sign ichiro to a 1 or 2 year deal

Sure we can or did you not see what BB did. Or Raburn. I could list more if you want. And no one we have matches up on defense.

Maybe he got tired of playing in Seattle, a team that never went anywhere. He went .322 with his time in NYY.

So you're saying the Tigers should shell out millions on a guy who is barely better than Raburn and Boesch? I mean yes, even with his lousy numbers at the bat he is probably better than both of those two, that is not a reason to go and give him a two year deal over any of the multitude of other players who would be better options.

.322 in NY or do those numbers not matter. And his defense>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Raburn and BB. Granted I don't want him at a huge cost. But the OP mentions, if he's reasonable. Since he's not a power hitter I think he could bat well in Comerica.

And barely better, lmao. Put both those guys in the OF at the same time at the same position and he's better. Give them 6 strikes and he's better.

I think that Ichiro is at least *marginally* better than Boesch and Raburn.

pretty much everyone in the league other than Jeff Franceour is an upgrade over Boesch and Raburn.

That's why I threw Cody Ross out there as a 2 WAR guy...that's 4WAR better than Boesch.

Sox have tons of money to spend and the tigers won't get him tho.

I'd like to see Ichiro on a two year deal to finish out his career...I don't know what Ichiro wants but I'd think he'd like to compete for a title (if he doesn't get one with the yanks this year) and the Tigers can provide that. (although I'm sure the complete lack of asians in the detroit area makes it a tough sell.)

Ichiro would be the worst Tigers signing since JuanGone.

I don't agree. Juan Gone was a bust because he was not suited to this park. Ichiro is perfectly suited to play here. He might not set the league on fire, but I consider him an asset for a year or two.

I don't watch any regular season games unless the Tigers are playing. I know Ichiro was a good defensive player back in the day. This year his defensive WAR was -1.1...there has to be better options out there.

Where did you find that? br.com, of fan graphs? I'm not looking in the right place, it seems.

He may be suited to the park but not the teams needs.

We need corner OF'ers with pop in their bat who can drive in runs. Ichiro, assuming he's even a shell of his former self is a table setter, we need guys to clear the table to help Miggy, Prince, and hopefully Vmart.

Signing Ichiro would be a waste of money because we would be adding to the payroll without addressing our needs.

If you want spend $$$ on an older ball player that can play right field, torii hunter on a 2 year might work,
time for Avi G. or Castellanos to mature.

Hunter was making 18 per and with him having a good season I bet he still gets that. I think he'd be great, still can play solid D, still can run the bases and one of those rare guys who hits as well on the road as he does at home. But do the Tigers go with another big contract?

WAR gets talked about all the time and D-WAR might be the worse yet. AJ for example, 3.4 last year for D-WAR, better than anyone else in both leagues. Blew Trout's 2012 away. This year its .8. No way AJ got that much worse. If you don't get the opportunities to make great plays in big situations they can't be made and D-WAR doesn't have a chance to improve.

Its a worthless stat.

I personally don't like hunter, he's a phony imo, and iirc from a few years back on the twins board they said he was whoring himself with a couple of teams his walk year.
I think at his age, he would/should agree to a 2 year $25M, maybe 2/3 M more deal, and he would stfu.

Also, word is Tigers, if you believe todays story and DD, want to sign Sanchez to a contract. So Mr. Ilitch just might add more $$$ after arby for players, and everything is said and done to move forward to 2013.

Oh yeah, I had forgotten about that.

Regards to Sanchez, I don't mind him so much like others on here. I think he can be a valuable SP for us. He got a bad mark because he had one bad game and one so-so game against better competition.
