If we win the world series this year

Could any of us honestly say this season was enjoyable to watch? Think about that...we have JV and a triple crown winner and it's pretty much constant stress each and every night. Obviously the end result would be celebrated by all of us...but could you honestly look back and say to people this was such a great, memorable season.

I say we get to celebrate the world series win for 5 years considering the amount of stress we had to endure lmao.

I was just going to post about how this would be one of the worst teams to win a world series. Not from a talent perspective but from their play. I get there have been teams with bad records to get in and win it but even they came together and performed well in the playoffs. We are doing the same shit we did in the regular season yet are somehow in this position. It's amazing.

No, not enjoyable at all. Too many problems all season lone with only a handful of bright spots, but it beats losing to the White Sox.

And if we win I'll be the first to admit we're a St. Louis clone. (bad team getting hot/lucky)

I think that if we do win it, 5 years from now I'll be reminiscing with a friend, and it will be one of those situations where you get a little giddy talking about how lucky we got to win it all.

I'll take a win and be happy about it. For 2 days. Then I will get on the bandwagon to fire Jimmy Smokes.

I will probably take the memories from 2006 and fuse it with the ring of 2012. Forget everything that happened in between.

I have really enjoyed it. It was a little annoying in the beginning of the year (almost entire first half) watching them stranding so many runners. I just love watching baseball period. It does not matter who is playing but of course my Tigers are at the top.

But their propensity to score runs with runners in scoring position with 2 outs was a treat for most of the year. I would not be surprised if they are at or close to the top in that category, Texas has a team like that but they do not have the pitching. It has been my experience that teams that do this usually go all the way providing they have the pitching and a half way decent fielding team.

You can really tell their a team that loves to play the game. Infante has been a huge pickup for them and Sanchez may prove to be as good if not more more important pickup.

Tigers have been playing great defense in these playoffs, if that continues, they will win it all.

So basically we have become Yankee fans? Expecting to win and ANYTHING short of a WS victory is a disappointment?

That's bull shit. I have enjoyed quite a bit of this season. The only reason you can say this season wasn't enjoyable is because your expectations were way too high to begin with. This team has no bullpen, questionable 4 and 5 starters, and outside of our 1,3 and 4 hitters.....we have a minor league lineup!!

Un fucking believable that Detroit Tiger fans......the fucking Tigers......would say anything like "what an unenjoyable season this World Series winning team gave us".

I'll assume Chico wrote this post.....sounds a lot like that little fag!!

watching Beast hit his way to the Triple Crown was enjoyable.
Seeing Jackson hit .300 was enjoyable
Getting Fielder and having him have a great year along with a .300+ ave.was enjoyable
watching Verlander pitch is a treat in itself
Seeing a couple of rookies have pretty good 1st years (Berry and Dirks) was enjoyable
watching Scwerzer come into his own was enjoyable
getting rid of some of the mud hens was enjoyable
listening to our favorite two homers (Mario and Rod) for 160 games was enjoyable

listening to Smoker explain a loss...priceless

So if the Tigers lose against the NYY we're suppose to be happy about it? Being disappointed is not an unusual feeling to have when a baseball team loses.

This is the problem with you people on this board, everyone is a Debbie Downer. If we win the WS can we enjoy it, wtf is wrong with you. Verlander is the best pitcher in MLB, cabby is the best hitter in MLB, Scherzer pitched great down the stretch, the team won the ALC, and this is not enough? Oh we didn't win 120 games and have the best pitching, bullpen, offense, and defense so it wasn't a good team.

I'm happy this team didn't give up like most of the fans here did, then complain when they did win the division because the got lucky.

BLJ is right, this is sad.

It said if they win the world series, not if they lose to the Yankees

I would be absolutely thrilled if they win 7 more games.

I certainly understand and feel the frustration of this season, and see it as a great year with the two players that are in the middle of all-time great careers, as well as the few other players that had excellent seasons too.

Honestly, I have said it many times on the phone with Bob, with my friends here, and posting here with all of you. It has been a most maddening season watching each game.
The defense and lack of range, causing the many 4/5 out innings. I just can't remember a Tigers team that was expected to contend, be so mediocre in the field, add the chasing of bad pitches by many most every game, some of Leyland's faults; the loyalty to players when we see they don't have it,
but despite the flaws most games, they had outstanding starting pitching, an all-time great hitter winning the Triple Crown, another beast batting behind him, a terrific leadoff hitter playing gold glove defense in center, and a few pieces that also performed well when inserted into the starting lineup.
But as a fan like all of you, if it happens, all the bad stuff this year would be forgotten.

even if they don't win the WS I enjoyed the season. ANY year the Tigers win the division and make the playoffs is a good year to me.

But his point was: Why would anyone be disappointed? Its not the same thing as despair. You lose a big game you get disappointed. Even for a little bit and can always look fondly on the season afterwards.

definitely. None of us were alive the last time the tigers made back to back playoffs so it's not as if we've been accustomed to some grand scale of success.

I'm always hoping for a title but in all honesty if they didn't get past the yanks I'd ultimately be satisfied with the season. It would however raise my expectations for 2013.

And that's what I mean....of course we would all be thrilled with winning a world series. We have some top notch, superstar players and unbelieveable performances by some...and then the other half of the team was hot garbage all year long. We have too many 4A players on this roster. We cannot score runs with the bases loaded. People have been calling for Leyland and DD's head all year. The defense was actually probably worse than we expected. Fundamentally this team can make you throw up most days. And I thought we'd score more runs this year.

I don't think I complain too much on this board (I'm one of 2 people who doesn't hate Delmon Young's bat) and I don't think my expectations were too high for this team. I thought they would win the Central, but not by 15 games. But somehow this season has been constantly maddening. It's very strange.

Which is why I made the post....I know 5 years from now I'm going to get into a disagreement with people who talk about how that team was so great because they didn't watch them all the time. Heck history will probably look back and say, well they had JV, Miggy, Prince and even AJ and Max...how could they not win it, etc? It's just been such a weird season.

I agree with you Manchild. Its been a strange mix of frustration and satisfaction, and teeter-tottering back and forth between the 2.
