Any insight on the fight? Is Iglasias a trouble maker or was that just an isolated incident? I did read before that Gose has a bad attitude so no surprise seeing him sticking his nose in there.

I guess McCaan was suggesting that Iggy didn;t try hard enough to get a ball, and then the next batter (Boegarts) doubled him home. Then Iggy blew up at him for questioning it.

Gose just seemed like that punk bitch from highschool who waits till everything is almost over to try to get his cheap shots in.

Glad to see some passion in the Tiger dugout.. I like McCann even better for calling anyone out for not hustling... Gose may be what you said T but maybe he was just backing up what McCann when he got in Iggy's face... Guess we will never know...

Iggy plays GG defense and is good at the plate. Who the **** is McCann to call anyone out? He's got a hell of an arm but I'd rather have Holaday behind the plate.

As far as Gose, if he would have done it right away that's one thing, but it was after it was over, and he came up from behind grabbed a handful of jersey while Iggy was leaning on the fence. Bitch move to pull on a guy who's smaller than most peoples wives.

I wonder what the play was but in all the time I've seen Iggy in a Tigers uniform he seems all hustle. I've seen him make the most unbelievable plays where most couldn't come close to making.. Infield ground balls he runs as hard as fk.

Okay I just saw the play.. well two of them. On the force out he didn't turn to make throw at first, couldn't see where the runner was but the announcer mentioned it. The ground ball up the middle, he slowed down though it's hard to tell if he could have gotten it, bad angle and all.

Jake: What I was concerned with was why you didn't come up with that grounder that Ryckert hit in the 9th?
Roger: It was out of my reach. What did you want me to do, dive for it?
Jake: Rog, it could have meant the game!
Roger: Oh come on, cut the rah rah shit Taylor! Year after this I go free agent. Plus me and my agent got a couple of plans for life after baseball. So I am not about to risk major injury or deface this property for a collection of stiffs!
Jake: Ya know Dorn, I liked you so much better when you were just a ballplayer. You were really great, once. If you wanna be an interior decorator now, that's none of my business. But some of us still need this team. Now you listen to me! This is my last shot at a winner and for some of the younger guys it could be their only shot. I don't know what happened to you. But if you ever, ever tank another play like you did today, I'm gonna cut your nuts off and stuff em down your ****in' throat!

I haven't seen the plays in question. But the dugout stuff.

First, McCann is a player on the team and probably will be for a long time, he is the catcher of the future. Further, he is GOOD! Is he as good as the slightly older Iglesias, no. But could he be, maybe.
So, on both accounts he has every right to call out a teammate.

Second, Iglesias is a hot headed, mouthy, flashy, hot dog type player. Clearly. But, he is also an all star, a future Gold Glover, and I hope that he is a Tiger, frankly, for life. Seriously, the guy has been that impressive. But again, he is clearly a bit of a pain in the ass personality-wise.

Third, if you watch Iggy play, the guy does seem to dog it on plays that he should get. There is something about the way he plays. Like if he can't come up with a creative, flashy way to make the play he is bored by it. I don't know, something like that. I've seen him not get to balls that it seemed he clearly could make. Then I see him get stuff that I can't believe he could get to and I just assume that the other play was because of a bad angle or something that made it seem like he had it.

As for Gose. He might be a bit of a prick, it seems to me. He and Cespedes, didn't really get along at the start of the season. YC, seemed to take issue with Gose going after balls that Yoenis felt were in "his." At the time Ii took it to be the veteran player being a jerk to the young-un, but now, maybe it was the other way around. That said, Gose also has talent, and could blossom into a hell of a center-fielder -- he has a very strong arm, he's fast, and he is a pretty good hitter (not great, but good). He has some issues, his game is a bit rough but I like him and hope to see him for years to come also.

In the altercation, Gose reaction was to Iglesias' continued chirping at McCann. Iglesias was clearly continuing to beef in his direction, everyone was ignoring him. I think Gose was angry that he wouldn't shut up.

It is a good thing, but clearly Iglesias was not NOT as over it as McCann and Gose were: they talked to media, he did not.

Also, notice that Simon and Sanchez, along with Lamont and Jones were the designated "chillers" on the situation.
Also, bag on Nick if you want, there are good reasons, he is a level headed, easy going teammate. You need guys like him if your going to have guys with tempers like McCann, Iglesias, Gose.

You said Gose was a good hitter. He's not even average. Good defender, but has no place starting on any team. McCann is going to be solid. Iggy is like polanco with the bat. Good for average, nothing else. Great defense, but he is a dipshit and clearly thinks he's above the game and the rest of his teammates. Someone calls you out for not hustling and you start throwing arms and objects at him? I don't want that guy on the team. McCann is the real teammate here. Gose and Iggy can piss off.

I'm not sure where I get that Iggy is a hot headed mouthy player, jackcade. Hotdog, sure.. Many of the good defensive players are. He's young, hopefully he'll grow out of it.

As far as Gose, he's been in the league long enough for me to realize he's not very good. His offensive numbers reek, they have his whole career. I hope we get a replacement for him for next year. And honestly, his defense is average.

Also, McCann is only good for left handers.. Let him get his 200 at bats a season and be done with it. Not a full time starter.

Thumbs up to the Major League reference, Jas.

I think we need to have a catcher who can play 130-140 games a year, or else our pitching staff will be inconsistent. McCann can at least thwart a running game, something Avila has been pretty poor at. All he needs to do is get more comfortable with the pitch framing.

Which is more important, throwing out guys or calling a game - something Avila is superior at. Maybe McCann gets better but Alice is the better choice there. And unless he can improve on his hitting against RHP I don't want any part of him against RHP. Again maybe he can improve.

I like McCann but he absolutely has to get better at framing pitches.

Yes. He's still young so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt but at this time I don't want to see him 130-140 times. On the other hand, can we afford to get rid of Alice? I don't think we have any viable C's in the minor league system. Not sure what FA are out there. We need another Pudge.

Iggy has been all about the flash for some time.. I love him at SS but he does this a lot of times. Glad he was called out on it.. As for Gose unless he starts hitting LHP he ends up being a platoon player unfortunately.. Man he has a cannon for a arm.. I believe in the long run this is a good thing.. Sometimes it feels like a lot of Tigers are lazy at times.. am glad McCann did this..

McCann and Gose will be on the bench or out of the game in 5 years.

Iglesias will still be an All Star in 5.

Nuff' said.

I tend to agree. As good as he is on D he'll always have a spot. Keep near a .700 OPS and he's an all star. Gose, I want him gone now. He brings nothing, not even defense. McCann needs to improve in several area's.

McCann is a rookie that's had a pretty damn good year. Are there things he can be better at? Sure, but stop acting like he's a horrible ball player.

How do you define "pretty damn good"?

I didn't see anyone in this thread call him horrible, but a couple times now I have seen people call him "good", and "pretty damn good". I don't think he fits either of those descriptions. He's not horrible, and he's not good. He's pretty good at throwing out runners and hitting LHP, but pretty bad at hitting RHP (80% of his PA's) and does not handle the staff well or frame pitches worth a damn.

And in the end hitting RHP and handling the staff/framing pitches is what's more important. Will he get better at them? Maybe, because if not he's not worth having just because easily amused people love "The McCannon".

frankly it doesn't bother me, I'm happy to see some damn fire and passion from these guys! Use it! let it focus you, if you don't like the shitty season you've had thus far then stop losing
