Jason Pierre Paul done messed up

Well, I would venture a guess that the statistics of people dying or getting hurt from professional fireworks shows is a lot smaller than homemade purchases.

Some people are saying it isnt bad. But at the same time he is still in the hospital which makes me think its worse than what Schefter has said. And the Giants have pulled his long term deal

Still dangerous either way.

Last night Schefter was on espn saying he burned both his hands and he thinks he'll miss all of training camp and maybe the beginning of the season.

While full details are not yet known, a source told ESPN.com that both hands were injured. Pierre-Paul suffered severe burns on the palm of one hand and the tips of three fingers, and one finger is being tested for nerve damage. He didn't lose any fingers, and doctors believe there will be no permanent damage or disfigurement of his hands.

The Giants still were attempting to determine the extent of the injury and a prognosis as of Monday afternoon, according to the source. There is concern that Pierre-Paul's hand injury could force him to miss training camp and the start of the regular season, one team source told ESPN on Monday, but the Giants are still awaiting more medical answers.

Guess the Giants retracted their contract offered to him. I don't think he intended to sign it so no big deal, but sounds like he will play on the franchise tag for sure this year.

Is he worth a tag if he misses a few games? Or did they already tag him?

Still in the hospital. I'm believing more and more that picture was real.

I didn't see the picture (just heard about it) but I'm thinking it's true. Team officials still haven't been able to see him yet and it's Tuesday.

Team officials still were not able to visit Pierre-Paul as of Tuesday afternoon but are waiting patiently and hope that the two-time Pro Bowler is OK, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Yeah a couple burns and maybe a lost pinky tip isn't going to keep him behind closed doors for that long.

Exactly. The general population shouldn't be able to buy mortars to light off in the driveway while they are drunk as shit. Look at all the stories about people dying or getting seriously injured each year. Leave it to the professionals who will do a WAY better job anyhow.

I don't buy explosive devices to explode in my driveway when I'm drunk as shit.

To the best of my knowledge, I don't know anybody who does.

AND THEN THERE WERE TWO:

Tampa Bay Bucs cornerback C.J. Wilson injured his hand during a fireworks accident last weekend, agent Joel Turner confirmed to ESPN.

Turner declined to discuss specifics of the injury and referred all further questions about Wilson's situation to the Buccaneers, but a team source told ESPN NFL Insider Ed Werder that the injury was "significant."

"We are aware that C.J. was involved in an accident that occurred over the July 4th holiday," the team said in a statement. "It is our understanding that the injury occurred to one of his hands, and our primary concern at this moment is for his long-term health. We have been in contact with C.J. and are continuing to monitor the situation."

The Tampa Tribune had earlier reported on Wilson's injury.

from ESPN

Although the injuries are not believed to be career-threatening, Giants officials traveled to Florida to visit Pierre-Paul in the hospital but never made it out of the waiting room to see him.

The Giants did not ask Pierre-Paul whether they could visit him in the hospital. Team officials flew down on their own to check on him and try to determine how extensive his hand injuries were, but those officials were not welcomed once they arrived.

Pierre-Paul is technically not under contract with the team as he has not yet signed his one-year franchise tender. The deadline for franchised players to agree to long-term contracts is July 15. If a deal can't be reached by that date, Pierre-Paul would have to play under his $14.8 million tender, unless the Giants decide to withdraw it.

They don't want the team to see him until the 15th. It's probably messed up really bad and he has to make sure he doesn't get his tender pulled..

Definitely an ugly story for JPP and the Giants. Hard to say yet why the team is keeping him away, but my hunch is the injury is far worse than his camp is letting on.

They are hoping for a miracle here.

And CJ Wilson lost 2 fingers.

Cornerback C.J. Wilson lost two fingers in a fireworks accident last weekend, his father told a Charlotte, North Carolina, television station.

Curtis Wilson Sr., appearing on Charlotte's WBTV, said the fireworks did not pop out of the canister when they exploded.

Crazy... just heard this on the ride in today. They are speculating that he might be done as a result of the injuries.

Apparently I'm running with the wrong crowd and living in the wrong neighborhood then. I'd say over half the people I know and see lighting off fireworks are doing exactly what I said. Drinking, lighting them and throwing them, putting a cardboard tube on their sloped driveway without any anchor, shooting them off in tight quarters, shooting them at their friends, and dumb crap like that. Of the ones who I know that actually take all the necessary precautions to light them off safely (I'm talking putting on a small display, not just lighting one or two), 75% or more have barely escaped serious injury when the fireworks misfire, tip over, blow up early, etc. My buddy's dad does a sizeable show in the water next to his dock, and they've had a number of mortars go off early and throw flaming debris on them and the rest of the fireworks they are lighting. One year, that caused about half of the fireworks to light and go off at once, which was crazy. Another year, my buddy suffered some temporary hearing loss as a result of one of the mortars going off early a few feet overhead too. They "follow the rules" and my buddy still was very hesitant to take his daughter there this 4th to watch. The funny part is that he was about the craziest person you could imagine growing up. We did so many stupid things that could have hurt or killed us, and he's a little scared of the fireworks displays.
