Jim Bob Cooter gone as Detroit Lions OC now signs w/ jets

Rumor has it that Sarkisian and Hackett are prime candidates for the Lions OC job.

I saw that on twitter. You know we all have our favorite to be the OC.
All we can do is hope that if it's not the one we like, the one they sign makes the offense a Total Beast.

It won't matter who gets hired here as OC. This board and fanbase will trash it lol. Never ends around here...

Kinda sad when you think of it...We all came here and Monster's board mass exodus from espn.

There are a couple who will say every move is the greatest since sliced bread,

those who think every move sucks ass, every f'n move!!

those who just like to troll because it gets a couple of posters 100% bullshit,

and the rest of us, we still put up with all that and just want to see the Lions and other Detroit teams win the last game of that Detroit sports teams season.

I see it every f'n day and night I am here.

The thing is, even when the Lions and Tigers win it all, the stuff I mentioned might take a couple of weeks or a month off and then the shit will start up again. So wtf, I ignore it most of the time. The one in a 1,000 I don't.....

Just looking for the next whipping boy.

The OC and the QB are easy targets. Not saying JBC's playcalling was particularly good or Stafford played well, but there's a lot of moving parts and they need all 11 to execute most of the time in order to find success.

The new OC will get shit on 100% if he doesn't work miracles and it will be even worse if there's a learning curve.

Detroit Lions Podcast Episode 195 ? Lions OC Hunt Continues. 45 minutes.

In this episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris and Case take ahold of the microphones while Jeff Risdon is away covering the Jim Bob Cooter interview with the Cleveland Browns for Brownswire ? poor guy. Fear not, the boys fight through Case?s failing internet connection to bring you the most important and pertinent Detroit Lions news today. They also talk about another leap that the show will be taking as we push to bring you the best Lions content in the most engaging formats.

Detroit Lions Podcast Talks Hires and Fires.
The first order of business this week is to cover the recent front office move at the Vice President of Football Operations position. Bob Quinn hire Matt Harriss is out and Mike Disner is in. Chris calls an immediate Super Bowl victory as a result. Case tempers Chris?s enthusiasm with talk about finance, the time value of money, and spreadsheets. Suffice it to say, we won?t be hearing much from Matt in the coming year.

Then we get into the boring stuff and talk about Offensive Coordinator candidates. Things seem pretty quiet around the team right now and everyone knows, that?s when a Lion strikes. The Detroit Lions Podcast discusses some of the previous possibilities that were mocked the Lions way, many of which have now been hired elsewhere. Still a pretty wide open group of candidates to choose from, and no real indications from the team as to where they may be looking.

After pillorying Michael David Smith of PFT, we look ahead to next year?s schedule. As of today the breakdown of who we play and where we play them seems to favor the Lions bringing us the more difficult teams at home and some of the easier ones on the road. There is a lot of offseason to go, but it felt right to take an early look.

Heading Around The Division.
After that we take the longest look ?Around the Division? that we?ve had in the show?s history. We start with the Chicago Bears and have a little fun at their expense as a result of their elimination from the playoffs last week. From there we walk over the Green Bay Packers and their new head coach hire on the way to poke the Minnesota Vikings a bit.

Easy target is right. We have a first pick QB who makes a ton so when things don't work it's the OC that gets blamed. We've already blamed 3 so far. I don't actually blame JBC. He changed the game to work for Matt's strengths. Lombardi was here for his good 2011 season so what changed after that in his play calling the following years? I know I get shit for this but we're blaming the wrong guy. And why is Quinn getting a free pass?

The Detroit Lions are clearly making some changes in 2019, and they are certainly warranted after a disappointing 2018 season. The season cost offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter and special teams coordinator Joe Marciano their jobs, and it appears more changes are on the way.

The team is keeping news heavily under wraps, but two weeks into the offensive coordinator search, it appears we?re finally getting some morsels of information. So to keep up with everything happening, we?re going to use this tracker so fans can easily follow all the news, rumors and official transactions the team has made this offseason.

Here, you?ll be able to quickly see which positions have been vacated, which have been filled and all confirmed candidates for each job. We will be consistently updating this as news comes in.

Without further ado, here is our Lions Coaching Changes Offseason Tracker.

The Packers are closing in on a deal to make ex-Jaguars OC Nathaniel Hackett their new offensive coordinator.
Hackett to GB is bound to get Lions fans mad, but he has some of the same flaws that got Cooter run out of town.
