Josh Gordon Arrested For DWI

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Police say Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated after speeding down a street in Raleigh.

Police spokesman Jim Sughrue said Gordon was taken into custody at Wake County Detention Center after being pulled over for going 50 mph in a 35 mph zone on U.S. 70 in northwest Raleigh around 3 a.m. Saturday.

Raleigh police captain Tommy Klein said to be arrested in Raleigh for DWI, a person has to be "appreciably impaired." Asked if the charge was DWI for alcohol or another substance, Sughrue said, "I can't comment on any tests we gave him or what the results were."

WNCN, the NBC affiliate in Raleigh, reported Gordon's blood-alcohol level was .09, and he admitted to having three drinks with vodka.

Gordon was released on a $500 bond. Court records did not list an attorney. Gordon will be scheduled for a court appearance in Raleigh on the charges brought against him.

Browns general manager Ray Farmer said the team is aware of the arrest and is disappointed. He didn't comment further.

Gordon could be facing a one-season NFL suspension for another failed drug test. He was suspended two games last season for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.

According to Pro Football Talk, Gordon's appeal hearing with the NFL has been set for late July, unless the league and NFLPA agree on a reduced suspension before then.

In early June, Gordon pleaded not guilty to a speeding ticket. Gordon was stopped for going 74 mph in a 60 mph zone on May 25. He was fined $187. His passenger was cited for possession of less than 200 grams of marijuana.

Gordon, 23, was suspended four games last season, which he attributed to using codeine. On appeal, that was reduced to two games not playing and two games played without pay.

He had 87 catches for 1,646 yards last season, and became the first player in NFL history to have consecutive 200-yard receiving games.

Gordon also was suspended twice while at Baylor, the second time indefinitely after failing a drug test. He transferred to Utah, where he sat out the 2011 season. After being taken by the Browns in the supplemental draft, he admitted failing a drug test at Utah as well.

Indianapolis Colts linebacker D'Qwell Jackson, a former teammate of Gordon's in Cleveland, took to Twitter on Saturday:

If you're close to Josh Gordon please help this kid, it's not about football anymore it's about picking up the pieces of his life.

It appears that this latest arrest has pushed Johnny football into snorting cocaine!

Gordon may miss the year for smoking weed and Ray Rice beats his GF until she is knocked out and only misses 2 games?

Gordon should now be suspended for life.....because his defense team is trying to say he failed the test because of second hand weed smoke.

Johnny Football was doing a line of coke off of his first hand so Gordon was smoking the weed with his second hand!

Second hand smoke?? That's some highschool bullshit you tell your Mom when you get home late from the party lol

Officially banned for the year, what a dumb motherfucker!! Does that open up cap room for the Browns, or does he still get paid and count against the cap?

suspended is without pay....but they might still get a cap hit....not sure how that works. youre making the team suffer for an individuals dumb actions....but then again your dumb gm shouldn't be collecting a bunch of high ons. Not sure what side of the fence I land on in that debate.

Definitely hurt that team. Could've been a good season for Cleveland

LOL...that dumbass! Just think how much weed he will be able to smoke for the next year!

At least I don't need to worry about where I might draft him in my fantasy league this year!
