Just a thought on Hoke's situation.

We aren't beating IU and I could even see losing to northwestern

We aren't bowling and Hoke will be gone

Unless... Devin Gardner learns how to throw? Michigan doesn't turn the ball over 8 times?

It's not happening.

I "toss his name around" as a potential candidate to replace Brady Hoke, as he's a better head football coach.

I don't believe this to be anything more than a overstated opinion. Schiano may be better at X's and O's but I don't believe for a second he is a better recruiter than Hoke.

They guys a dickhead and always appeared to have a turd stuck when I see him on the sidelines.

I can't believe you guys think this team can beat OSU. You guys are nuts!

What "guys" do you mean? I'm looking over the thread and the only one who came close was LostLeader, saying he thinks there's more than a 1/100 chance.

Red posted some vague quote from some nerd saying there's a 12% chance we win. I've seen crazier upsets in college football, so that's probably where I'd put it, although if we play better against NU & MD, I'd go as high as 30%.

Is your issue here that you want everyone to agree there's a 0% chance?

There's always a chance. Even if it is in the same realm as Lloyd Christmas ending up with Mary Swanson.

Being a better recruiter has really paid off for Brady Hoke.

Michigan recruits itself. Even after the half decade of horrible football, the team still, and will always be a top recruiter. Schiano could go into a player's house dressed as a pirate and they'll still commit.

this is not true.

oh come on... it's better than 1/1,000,000.

Last year, I think that's where people had it as well. The three games prior to The Game were the home loss to Nebraska, the 3 OT win at Northwestern, and the loss @ Iowa, all of which were terrible games offensively. There was literally no hope for the ohio game.

This year, we looked fine against IU, though granted they were 1-dimensional. At least this year at times we've been able to run the ball, and the offense isn't quite as futile. If we look better against NU this season & MD at home, then... why not remain hopeful?

It's at ohio, which is bad.

But ohio isn't as good as they were last year.

MSU should beat them, and we'll have some film. if we can pressure JT Barrett into making as many mistakes as Gardner (if not more) we can take it down to the wire, and then anything can happen.

Besides, the thread is about Hoke's situation, not whether or not Michigan can beat ohio*. That was why my previous post was regarding situations in which Hoke might get another year. Why do some guys pull one point out of a post, twist it, and make a post trying to refute the side point that they twisted? Does this make them feel good?

The thread about whether or not Michigan can beat ohio* in Columbus will come in a few weeks. We know that for sure. Whether the game will even be relevant to Hoke's future will be decided in the next couple of weeks.

I will stand by my estimation as being between a chance in a million and the estimations of 12% and 30%.

One chance in 100.

1%.

The "guys" saying, "well, if we win out or beat Northwestern and Maryland and are competitive against OSU, then Hoke can keep his job"...obviously paraphrasing a number of quotes with my quote, but you get the picture.

I'll change my log in to 'dummy' for a year if Michigan beats OSU this season.

The thread goes in that direction, because you have people addressing Hoke's situation and saying, "If Michigan beats Ohio State..."

Which part isn't true? That Michigan recruits itself? Or Schiano couldn't pull off recruiting as a pirate?

I know it's actually better than 1/1,000,000. I was just making a joke because the chances are not good. Gardner actually had a few games last year where he looked good. He hasn't had a single good game this year.

We haven't been able to run the ball well except against terrible, terrible teams and Rutgers. We averaged 4.5 YPC against Rutgers. Against any other decent team the best we averaged was 3.3 YPC. That was against Utah. Our YPC (not including App St, Miami OH, and IU) go like this, ND 2.9, Utah 3.3, Minnesota 3.0, Rutgers 4.5, PSU 2.1, MSU 2.3. Maybe Drake helps cure this, but I'm not getting my hopes up because of what he did against IU's revolving door defense.

Our offense just isn't good at anything at that's why I don't think we have hardly any chance to win. Oh and of course turnovers.

Which part isn't true? That Michigan recruits itself? Or Schiano couldn't pull off recruiting as a pirate?

Both.

Michigan didn't pull the same recruits with RR. Hoke is a better recruiter, he sells Michigan. Now selling UM is like selling a brand new car, as Ball State is more of like selling a used car at the same price. So it should be easier to sell UM, but you still have to get them to sign.

Also if Schiano or anyone showed up at my house dressed like a pirate, I would escort them off the property at gun point. I don't think Schiano or a pirate should be coaching UM, ever.

Haven't we learned our lesson about top recruits? Hoke's been pulling in great classes and he's turned them into mush. Whatever coach they get, Schiano or no needs to be able to determine who can actually make an impact. Look no further than down the road at MSU. Dantonio rarely cracks the top 15-20 with classes, and he's turning them into pros.
