I am not quite sure what to say. What did I ever do to Stonecold do deserve all that attention?
As far as I know, I have never "personally attacked" anyone (i.e. slander, etc).
I knew something was going on when I would lose and gain 5 karma points each day. Yes, I am not overly concerned about it, but it did catch my attention, especially when you go from -5 to 128 overnight. Absolutely nothing that would keep me up at night and threaten to stop posting here.
I view karma similar to the "like" button on Facebook. I generally award to someone when they post something thought provoking. And yes, I smite those that make personal attacks and/or generally lame comments. Do I do it often? Certainly not every day.
Hey guys, guess what I just found out.....there are ads at this website!!!
OK...so I knew there were ads here, but I never stopped and looked at them. And they certainly are not the annoying type that get in your way as you navigate a site.
Now on to the technical....one needs to know the vector for you to claim where you got a virus. A website needs to be running active content that is infected. As far as I can tell, there is no active content from this site except from the ads. Being a FREE site, advertisers would lose all kinds of money if it was found that their Java Script ads were causing harm. I seriously doubt this site is potentially harmful.
As KC stated, I strongly recommend using a good Internet Security Suite (Antivirus, spyware, firewall, etc). Web browsers also make a difference. I generally use Google Chrome (FireFox would be the next choice). I occasionally use IE, but usually it is for military or company related sites that are not compatible with Chrome. You can also change your web browser to "block" active content, but this may cause certain web sites not to display what you want to see.
Now, my Internet Security Suite will warn me when I go to a potentially unsafe website. It does not allow me to immediately go there. I have to bypass the warning to go there. This is especially nice when you do a Google search on something and click the link in the results. So if your Internet Security Suite just allows you to go from website to website, you probably either don't have this feature turned on, or it didn't come with this feature.
BLUF...I enjoy posting and doing stat research. I am sure there are some that take offense to my posts, but I usually back it up. I also tend to post against some factual errors made by another, so maybe this doesn't help.
The assumption is we all want what is best for the Detroit Tigers. We differ in opinions as to accomplish this. My wife and two sons vastly have different opinions than I do, but we generally don't attack each other over this (i.e. "You moron", "your an idiot", etc).
For the most part, this board is far better than ESPN when it comes to personal attacks. But seriously, how tough is it to sit at a keyboard and make threatening remarks?
