while it's true the past two draft classes have been iffy..you're not going to hit on every draft..this year we went 4-12..yes...but we also finished the year with the hardest schedule in the league..started off the year 6 of 8 on the road..and finished the year with highest opponent win %..follow it up with a ton of injuries in the middle to late year...the team that was struggling to win late..was clearly not the same as the beginning of the year..in fact i believe we had 1000 more yards than opponents this year..and of course the three game stretch against gb, indy, and houston in which we led all 3 games with 2 minutes left..and lost..talent is a bit of an issue..but i think if we have a good offseason this year..we will be just fine..

i actually agree with this....a good offseason could drastically improve this team. Ive been saying that for 3 years though. Im just providing factual evidence from the past. Theres several people on this board that try to predict the future. Unfortunately none of these nostradamus fantasies come to fruition. Sure.... reiff, titus, broyles, leshoure, fairley, bentley, best could produce huge numbers for this team in upcomming years. But the fact is they havent so far and we still have holes everywhere to show for it. All those guys listed could also frikken die tomorrow in a plane crash for all i know lol.

do me a favor hughes...look at the new england patriots..since you always bring up their draft picks...from 2004-2005-2006-2007-2008 draft classes..and tell me how many good nfl starters they got in 5 draft classes straight...

when do i always bring up their drafts? i think i brought them up once when booger said vereen was a wasted pick and then he went off in a playoff game lol. without looking i can tell you they have guys that they draft that are productive....several more than we have. mccourty, wilfork, hightower, the other lb from FLA, brady, ridley, mayo, their LT from colorado....whatever his name is, their safety from oregon....whatever his name is. Im sure im missing some since im driving lol. They also collect value in drafts, we tend to throw it away and get nothing in return. actually i think i did mention them a couple days ago when i referrred to us as the antipatriots.....it was in regards to retaining value in drafts. Not that they hit on every single one of their picks. They have a million picks every year....hitting on all of them obviously isnt possible.

1 in 2008..jarod mayo..

so..3 players..all first round picks...the rest..were either very small role players and most not wit the team.

heres my problem with your posts. youre saying were 1 good offseason away. I kinda of agree. BUT...what are our needs? DE, CB, S, G, C, speed back. Welp...guess what....weve needed every single one of those positions last year too! And guess again.....we needed every single one of those positions they year before that too! its not getting fixed....on the contrary its getting worse. We will have more holes this year than i think we can fill in one off season. 8 starters on defense. probably need to replace 4 more to be any good/consistent on offense.

it happens in the nfl...sometimes when you draft to fix other positions..you lose the depth of other ones..alot of top teams that you can look at around the league..indy for years..green bay late in brett favre's career.....new orleans..have added offensive depth over defense sometimes...remember i think it was the year after they took rodgers..the next year green bay took..brian brohm and jordy nelson with both their second round picks?..last year they took cobb high despite having jennings, jones, and nelson..the problem is..we need to start doing a better job at drafting that young depth..or they need to start being healthy..or else it will come back and bite us.

last year was chandler jones, hightower and they picked dennard in the 7th round who started for them and played in several other games....and played well.

solder ridley mallet cannon....isnt a poor draft.

mccourty gronk hernandez mesko...id take it.

chung butler vollmer tate edelman....meh but more prduction than our drafts.

06-08 werent very good but they have a couple players still from those drafts.

i know about their latest drafts...i was just giving an example of a five year stretch where they literately didn't do anything..im not missing any..please point out the players from the drafts i mentioned..that i missed?
