Kiper Mock v1

My bad if I came off as accusatory. I was just trying to give an example of a game where he made many different types of catches. In my opinion, in the unlikely scenario that Watkins falls to us at #10, we have to take him no matter what. He's that type of an impact player and pairing him with Calvin would be amazing.

wana talk about pairing impact players that might drop.....every year it seems a stud DE drops for one reason or another. Imagine Clowney, suh, fairley, ansah :D Surprised no one has brought it up other than I see the overhyped chatter here n there.....im guessing people are assuming he wont be there????

definitely interesting to compare them this way. Lee catching 30% of his passes from 1-5 yards combined with his drop rate of over 12% is yucky. Evans YAC is impressive considering how many targets he gets down the field. Shows the separation concern might not actually be the case.

No he can't get separation for shit, that is true. He always out manoeuvres the db at the point of the catch though. Once he makes the catch and its him 1 on 1 with a db with and ball in his hands and he just muscles right over them.

Never thought he'd be there at 10 but interesting thought. Suh would motivate his ass.

for sure....youd think top 5 lock. But with all these qb runs that happen in the top 10. 3 most likely a lock in the top 10 already with Bortles, Manziel, Teddy. You have HOU JAX CLE OAK MIN that could look qb. And Carr, McCarron, Boyd, Metternberger ready to jump into the 1st round somewhere. Bottom line is were going to get a top 7 guy at 10 unless we fuck it up somehow.

True. Hopefully we get another QB in there, maybe Carr. There is always one that teams talk themselves into.

Lee is not a first round pick...well he may be one but he shouldn't be. Gilbert is overrated do to a weakness at the position this year but is a good player just not sure he is top 10 good. I like Evans from A&M but Manziel made things easier for his Wrs because he keeps plays alive. He isn't a big play threat but is going to be a good possession guy. Which I have been saying repeatedly is what we need. Watkins is a big play guy that I don't want. Not sure he is strong enough to make the same big plays in the pros. He will struggle against press which can be overcome with scheme but I also don't love his hands and think he was helped by the offense he was in at Clemson. Mostly a screen game which he used his speed well. But like I said I don't think thats what we need. Because we need another guy that will make "The Plays" for Stafford. Guys like Cj which get open and come back to the ball and then hold onto the thing. I like Benjamin for FSU for the same reason. I think him and Evans will both have similar combines but with their size and hands it will really be a good choice. If magically Clowney falls to 10 I dont see how you pass it up. He is to good to pass on even though his numbers fell drastically this year and there are work issues with him. His skills at disrupting the LOS are still the best in the draft and matched with what we already have you can't gameplan around him. But I doubt he is there. I need to go look at safety players too but haven't gotten around to it.

theres like 3 safties projected to go in the top 100 pre combine.....the best value I can see is Ahmad Dixon from Baylor....who should be available at the top of round 3. Calvin Pryor is an interesting propect that came out early and will probably be projected mid 2nd.
Loston from LSU is a decent mid round prospect. Lamarcus Joyner is your cb/s hybrid who is a bit undersized for the position but people have said his name in the same breath as tyrann matheiau. I don't touch Clinton dix in rd 1.

Thanks dude. I know its a crazy weak draft at way to many positions this year. Good qbs but outside of that I am not sure I see the high value. Decent wrs mostly number 2s in the pros and a few decent CBs but no shutdown corners. Not saying they can't become number 1s or shutdown corners but no guys that will be that from the start or even year two.

The last three posts.... You guys seriously should be employed by the NFL network or something with all that knowledge....

Seattle has 2 shutdown corners that were taken in the 5th and 6th rounds in the 2011 draft. One made the pro bowl in 2012 and the other (Sherman) might be the best all around CB in the game. Just because they don't look like all pros pre draft doesn't mean they aren't out there.

Maxwell took a bit to develop. Really started playing when Browner got suspended.

Thurmond was a character concern but had 1st round talent. Sometimes they pay off, Thurmond, Talib, Blount etc, sometimes they don't Titus Young, Haynesworth.

Sherman is very good but I'm sure there are 10 other late round guys who aren't good at all in that draft.

Seahawks took Kris Durham before Sherman in that draft.

The difference between the Lions and Seahawks is the Lions take the risk picks in the first two rounds....the Seahawks take them in the 6th!!

I don't understand how you don't like Watkins, but do like Evans and Benjamin. Why do you think Watkins has bad hands? Could you post a link that says he has bad hands? Because from the little I've watched him and everything I've read about him says he has great hands. Also, one of the knocks on Benjamin is his lack of concentration (he makes some great catches and drops the easy ones i.e. Lions WRs). Both Evans and Benjamin will have trouble getting separation. Also, Watkins isn't that small to begin with, he plays bigger than his size, and he'll be bigger than probably every CB he matches up against. Watkins also isn't just a screen guy. He's very good at high-pointing the ball (watch one of his TD catches against OSU in the bowl game). I think Watkins is far and away better than Evans and Benjamin.

Watkins is the top guy in my mind no doubt about it.

Go back to what Cheeno posted and it shows Watkins with few drops, just behind Evans. Most of his catches are within 5 yards but I'm not sure that would effect his hands..Maybe it would I don't know. But it seemed to show be had better hands than Benhamin ..

Try a fastball from Stafford 5 yards away. May affect your hands. That was negative, I apologize for messing up the zen of this place.

Not sure what this had to do with Watkins catching everything within 5 yards but whatever..now go and enjoy your neurotic.
