Mikel Leshoure - RB - Lions

Lions RB Mikel Leshoure tested positive for marijuana as a sophomore at Illinois.

Pro Football Weekly, which uncovers many hidden infractions, had nothing about Leshoure's one-game 2009 suspension in last year's scouting reports. That incident had slipped under the radar until Leshoure's two marijuana-related arrests in the past two months. The NFL can and will factor in Leshoure's entire history when dishing out punishment. He could face a suspension in the range of 6-8 games.

Fuck him. Cut his ass and roll with Smith, the 3 carries Best will muster before his impending concussion and subsequent retirement, and whoever they draft. I'm ok with that.

Why the hell would you cut someone on year 2 of a rookie contract? Because you're on your period and wanna be bitchy? He's as cheap as it gets. No reason to cut him.

Chris Johnson was arrested five times in three states in a 2 and a half year period, with 4 of those arrests coming in about a year, and he got a two game suspension for it.

Michael Vick did four games for killing animals.

Tank Johnson got 8 games that could be reduced down to 6 for weapon charges.

I don't see how they can give LeShore 6-8 games for a minor amount of pot and keep a straight face.

I think the gimp gets 2 games for being just plain stupid....

The only thing stupiderer then leshoure is the fans that wanna cut him.

3 strikes and your out....he has another pitch to swing at left.

Yeah 6-8 games sounds a bit unreasonable, unless he is convicted of a felony. Goddell has been ratcheting up the heat lately and if he perceives a drug culture is endangering "the Shield" then it could be more than the likely 1-2 game suspension. Some high profile busts lately in Hurd and Simpson, and our own Friday crew getting hit with multiple offenses in the last few months/weeks.

That's it. Goodell could just say "fk it" and bam, 6 games. He might have just had enough of stupid people.

If LeShore gets 6 for pot, then every player who ever knew about a bounty in New Orleans better get a year.

1. Torn achillies. No way of knowing what kind of player he will be now. (though that in itself is not a reason to cut him)
2. One weed incident away from a year ban. Two away from a lifetime ban. He had two in a month.....so two more certainly isn't a long shot.
3. Takes a roster spot away from someone that can contribute.
4. Whatever back they draft, and they will draft one, will be on YEAR ONE of a rookie contract so he will also be "as cheap as it gets".
5. Shows no signs of wanting/having the desire to stop or act remorceful. If he did, after the first incident he would have quit. But he didn't. He got back into a car with an idiot friend and got pulled over.

Is that enough for you?
Do I think he gets cut? No.
Will I root for him if he ever sees the field? Yep
Would I cut him if I were Schwartz and send a message to the rest of the team that I wont put up with this kind of shit.

HELL YES!

booger presents a very solid case......well done Sir

None of that is enough of a reason to cut him right now. So, no, its not enough.

While suspended, he doesn't take up a roster spot.

When he comes off suspension, if he's not healthy enough to contribute, put him on IR and re-evaluate next year.

If he makes a third mistake, THEN cut him. Why the hell would you cut him prematurely?

If they draft a RB, they can keep all 4 RBs. Again, Leshoure won't count against the roster while he's suspended. When he comes back, if he's healthy, you can decide what to do then. Considering the injury history of Best and Smith as well, having 4 RBs might not be a bad thing, and it probably wouldn't last long.

All you did was list off reasons to be CONCERNED with Leshoure. Not enough to cut him right now. You gain nothing, other than a bullshit attempt to send a message.

dude blew off a court date on Monday, it's obvious he may need to grow up some real quick.....

A solid case for being concerned, but there's truly nothing to be gained by cutting him now. At the very least, wait until his suspension is over and re-evaluate. Nothing to lose there.

Say he gets suspended 4 games. The Lions draft a RB and roll with him, Best, and Smith. Leshoure won't count against the cap or take up a roster spot. Best gets put on IR in week 3 (not much of a stretch). Then you can say "Hey, we were gonna cut this guy, but maybe we should give him a shot since we're thin at the position".

I just don't see how you gain anything by cutting him now.

You're pitting one opinion vs. another opinion and saying yours is correct. Sorry, but I don't agree.

If anything, I'd cut him to make a statement to the team. Especially the unproven young guys that are currently on the roster or the rookies that will be soon. It's not bullshit. Right now, at best, Leshoure is a solid compliment to Best, but he isn't a game changer. They are going to draft, sign a FA or make a trade for another RB that is as good or better then Leshoure. He becomes expendable the second they do that.

As a franchise, it's easy to cut an expendable player to make an example to the rest of the team. Leshoure needs to know that. He clearly doesn't.

To me, it's an easy decision.

So, Suh stomps on a guy on national television, denies it afterwards, then goes joy-riding and gets into a car accident while serving his suspension and tries to prevent an injured passenger from getting to a hospital to prevent bad publicity, and they don't do shit. But Leshoure gets cut?

So the message you want to send is "If you're good, you can fuck up and get away with it. If you are unproven, we'll cut you." Great message

Also, how the hell do you know how good Leshoure is? He hasn't played a single down.

Are you fucking retarded?? That's the way the world works Sally.

You think if CJ were to get busted for drugs or steroids to the point he were suspended for an entire year the Lions would cut him?? HELL NO. It would be..."he clearly needs help, and we are going to see him though this".....blah blah blah

You think if Maurice Stovall did the same thing he would be on the team. HELL NO. They would cut his ass in a heartbeat and say things like "we wont stand for this in the Lions organization".....blah blah blah

Like it or not, that's how it is. The players know that. The agents know that. The owners, GM's and coaches all know that.

All you're doing is helping me prove my point.

Try again.
