LeShoure May Get 6 - 8 Games

If LeShoure is cut, he'd be signed by another team in a heartbeat. How's that a deterrent? He's going nowhere for the length of his rookie deal.

If he messes up again, he's gone.

If, after his suspension, he still looks awful physically, he's either on IR or gone. They won't hold a spot for him.

Until then, they won't get rid of him. No point.

I dont think he is eligible for practice squad he had a year on IR....anyways he'd get plucked off there in a heartbeat.

Mikel is obviously very severely damaged and quite questionable goods, not to mention obviously just one more bust away from wearing an orange jumpsuit with a number stenciled on the back, instead of a Honolulu blue and silver uni with his surname on the back of it. So I would still be a bit surprised if another team would be so quick to nab him. But like you posted, he may not be eligible anyway.

You're pitting one opinion vs. another opinion and saying yours is correct. Sorry, but I don't agree.

If anything, I'd cut him to make a statement to the team. Especially the unproven young guys that are currently on the roster or the rookies that will be soon. It's not bullshit. Right now, at best, Leshoure is a solid compliment to Best, but he isn't a game changer. They are going to draft, sign a FA or make a trade for another RB that is as good or better then Leshoure. He becomes expendable the second they do that.

As a franchise, it's easy to cut an expendable player to make an example to the rest of the team. Leshoure needs to know that. He clearly doesn't.

To me, it's an easy decision.

Teams like to talk about how they're family and they got each others back, so what do you do when a young player that comes from a bad home and is obviously dumber than shit fucks up, you cut him? All that message would be is we don't give a shit about you and when you need help the most we will turn our back and cut you as dead weight. The way tulloch talks about Schwartz I don't think he gets cut but he is definately in the dog house with a short leash.

+1. No positive message sent by cutting him.

Dude can barely walk right now....i dont give a shit about him. Thought it was a dumb pick last year. Its an even dumber pick now. Strike 2 for MM drafting high pick RBs.....Get a clue moron....its your oline.

Wow that is an awful point.

Guys get cut ALL THE TIME!! They talk about it being a family but that's all BS. C'mon, you're smarter than that. If it were really a family guys wouldnt EVER get cut because they're contract is too big. Why wouldn't the team live up the their end of the deal? What message does that send??

Players jump teams for more money all the time. Where is the loyalty from players?? Why hold out on a contract you signed even if you did outperform it?? What message does that send to the team??

Wise up, Susie. There is no loyalty. NONE. It's a fuckin business. For Christs sake the Colts cut Manning because they didn't want to pay him his roster bonus. After all he's done for that franchise. The MILLIONS upon MILLIONS of dollars he's made them. The pride he brought to the organization. The way he's handled himself on and off the field. If there were loyalty.....he'd still be a Colt. But there are $28 MILLION reasons he isn't right now.

Leshoure is a bad asset right now. If it were my call.....he'd be gone!!!

I bought his jersey right after he was drafted so it'd be kind of cool to have a jersey of a player who never played for your team..

I don't see how you can completely change what he said and write a super long post about that misinterpretation.

He wasn't talking about ANY cut. Specifically, a guy who made a couple mistakes and could use a positive environment to help keep him from more mistakes. But anyways, if they gained anything from cutting him, they would do it anyways. Like you said, it IS a business.

But they truly have nothing to gain by cutting him. Nothing at all. It won't save money. While suspended, he doesn't take up a roster spot. And you need to stop living in some sort of fantasy world where other players are actually affected by a guy getting cut. Especially someone who hasn't played a snap. Fairley is a dumbass....cutting Leshoure isn't gonna make Fairley smart.

Why you talking about money when this isn't a money issue? You say there is no loyalty, ever heard of a guy named Tulloch and the loyalty he has for his coach?

Why are you talking about Tulloch when this isn't about him?

For every Tulloch, there is 10 Pierre Garcons, Dan Conners, Eric Wrights or Peyton Hillis's. Guys that bolt for bigger paydays as soon as the opportunity presents itself.

Tullloch didnt exactly have teams beating down his door either this year or last....he's a good soldier , but really only fits 2 or 3 schemes in the NFL as a 3 down LB.

Yeah...If you're gonna bring up loyalty, use Backus, C Williams, or Raiola

So...I am guessing that the "got high and I missed it" procrastinating Leshoure finally showed up for his arraignment date yesterday, before the court-imposed deadline passed?

In this case, maybe no news is good news for a change..lol.

Maybe weed isn't truly physically addictive, but as a former "chronic" toker, it is my opinion that it definitely is psychologically, to a certain extent, mostly depending on the amount and frequency of its use, and as I mentioned in another thread, ever since the late 80s-90s. pot has gradually become far, far more THC potent than it was when it first became connected to the burgeoning hippie culture of the late 60s.

Maybe, just maybe, staring a felony charge in the face will wise this kid up. If not, he won't be long for the NFL anyways.

As others pointed out, nothing is really gained from a football perspective by cutting him, and there are major question marks about our hole (pun intended) RB situation as a team. As for sending a message, I think it is much easier to put him in the doghouse in front of the other players and make a point that way... gives him a chance to work his way out if it (on the field and off) in front of everyone, or sink into obscurity and perhaps an orange jumpsuit. If you cut him, everyone forgets in a few weeks, at least until we have multiple injuries at RB and could use him; and at that point instead of thinking about how bad it is to screw up, the players would all be thinking how dumb a football move it was by the guys in charge to cut a guy in a position of need... not exactly the type of message the team wants to send.

not sure what the rule is for cutting a guy who violated NFL policy not once but twice.

Corey of Knoxville, Tenn., writes: In a player's contract, can a team work in a clause about substance abuse? For example, if the Lions were to draft Janoris Jenkins, could they insert a clause that if he gets caught breaking the substance abuse policy, then he is no longer eligible for any escalators or something along those lines?

Kevin Seifert: Not specifically, no. The NFL and NFL Players Association have agreed on the substance-abuse policy for disciplining players and protecting teams from drug abuse. Jenkins and every other player would be classified confidentially in the program. Positive tests would lead to increasingly tough penalties, including fines and suspensions. With that said, a team can have generic playing-time escalators and other devices that obviously wouldn't be reached if a player is suspended as part of a positive test.
