Levy Extended

Don't you want to see Ngata play first? Maybe he becomes Julian Peterson and declines.

Ngata is a beast. He won't decline at 31. He was a beast last year. An extension doesn't make him untradeable or uncuttable if he really declines at 33 or 34. But even a declined Ngata is probably good. I don't think he'll decline this year especially.

Also it would lower his cap number this year. More carryover for next year and more room for this for the top 53 (meaning we won't have to restructure Tate), no worries on franchising or a new contract next year.

Many reasons to extend Ngata. Mayhew said he really wanted too. He's seen enough.

Peterson was never on Ngatas level either and they are different positions. Ngata is also surrounded by much more talent than Peterson was in 2009.

Beast? In a 4-3? I want to see video of that. If Mayhew said that he's an idiot.

Mayhew said he saw all he needed to see. Ngata can penetrate, is powerful, athletic. He penetrated in a 3-4 taking on two gaps and playing run first. Now he can just penetrate and play the run on the way to the QB. It's an easier scheme for Ngata.

I'd give him 8 per. Maybe 10 per for 3 years.

He saw all he could see? Practice against an oline that was awful last year? Yeah okay..that was a good one, lol.

I'd give him alot of the 24 million on 3 years guaranteed.
12 million signing bonus even like Levy got. 12/4 years if given this year=3 per on the SB
3 million base (guaranteed) + 3=6 million. He would get 15 million in cash instead of 8.5 this year.
4 million base (guaranteed)+3=7 million
4 million +3+ 2 roster bonus=9 million
9.5 million+3=12.5 million.

He would never see year 4.

The tag could be 12-13 million for DTs after this Suh contract.

Based on practice?

Practice, we're talking practice, man. Lol.

Based on years of him dominating and having a skillset to dominate for Detroit. Every free agent that is signed doesn't have game tape with the new team.

And it would lower his cap number to 6 million rom 8.5 million. 9 million for 2016 is much less than the DT franchise tag. It would be a win for the Lions.

He wasn't a fa.

Right over your head. I'm saying most FAs don't have game tape in the new schemes but they get deals anyway. We don't need Lions game tape to know Ngata is a stud, trade or not.

Actually most, the smart ones anyway, sign FA that have played in a similar system.

The smart ones also don't extend a 31 year old before he's played a down. So who knows what Mayhew does..

Ngata is a beast. Players switch schemes all the time. See Peppers to GB last year. And he's 34 to be 35.

It's easiest to play DT in a 4-3. Peppers had the hardest transition from DE to 3-4 OLB in space.

He was good. Wasn't as good as when he was at Chicago. The reason he's not making as much money.

And Ngata won't make as much money on this new contract either. Ngata is on the last year of a 12 million per deal.

Peppers has a 12 million dollar cap hit and 10.5 next year.

You said the other day you want to pay him 13?

8.5 per is Odrick money. 10 per is Atkins money. 15 per is McCoy. 19 per is Suh.

Ngata was 12 per. 8-10 per would be about right for Ngata still. Lean towards 8

Kyle Williams got 7.5 per and he's 32. Ngata is on that level at least and is younger.

Kyle Williams was very good last yeat at DT at 31.
