Still no benefit to signing Ngata early. Let him play out. If he wants to leave he will, if he wants to stay he will. The market is not suddenly going to go crazy for a 32 year old DT. No financial benefit from doing it early. Only risk. We don't need extra cap room in 2015. If he does leave, take the comp pick and be happy.

This is a very important point when building a team. Unfortunately levy is basically the only mayhew mid round pick to make it to an 2nd/3rd contract. We need more of those guys on this team in order to be a constant contender. Developing mid round guys and getting production from them is huge. Levy had a rough couple seasons to start but he's been an absolute monster the last couple years. Great extension.

Actually most, the smart ones anyway, sign FA that have played in a similar system.

The smart ones also don't extend a 31 year old before he's played a down. So who knows what Mayhew does..
