Tate had that one really nice "Bubble screen" that he took for about 30 yards. Abdullah and Riddick had nice dump down passes for nice gains. Those are the types of plays they should be calling...Stafford really doesn't have to hold the ball long and they slow the pass rush.

Stafford can't hold the ball long! He gets pressured too much. And Tate needs the ball more

And Golen Tate getting phased out of the offense lol. Lombardi is a genius

I don't understand it. Calvin is being used how Tate should be. We should be throwing longer to Calvin and using Tate for the shorter slants. We also need to get Abdullah more touches. It isn't helping having Warford and Pettigrew out/injured. Those two add a lot as blockers, which is a big part of our current issues.

The problem is Stafford doesn't have a single repeatable asset to offer the coaching staff. Just not consistent enough to be a reliable NFL starting QB. He can throw the ball hard. He is Joel Zumaya.

Hard to see on the INT by the LBer, but it appeared any throw besides a laser would of been more effective. It didn't appear there was anyone behind CJ, could of lobbed it and let him run under for a catch and TD. But Mr One throw style went to his go to and it cost him a pick

I didn't see it that way at all. He has all sorts of arm angles and speeds that he throws at. He does tend to lack accuracy and touch though. I think more of the issue with Stafford is his tendency to stare down receivers and not read the field. He also tends to bury balls in the ground or sail receivers, but that's accuracy and touch.

As far as the int by Bruton (he's a S....but was playing a nickel LB)......I think Bruton made a good play. It happens.

However, Stafford stared down CJ. Probably got excited to see the coverage and the route......knew he had a big play....and was just waiting for CJ to make his break. All he had to do was look right at the snap instead of stare down #81 and Calvin WALKS into the end zone. Right read. Right throw.

Bad awareness.

Good play by Bruton, though.

Calvin has been turned into a worthless possession receiver. Zero deep threats in our offense.

Great play by the D. Correct Read by Stafford. Just saying there is one type of throw that allows the defense to make a play, that is the throw he decided to throw. So yea great play, but he was given the chance to make a great play because of the decision the QB made on the throw. Have some touch and loft and its a TD and a different ball game.

There are some throws where his arm is an asset, there are some throws where it is not needed. He needs to understand that a bit better. The INT is on the QB for even making it a possibility it could be picked off.

That seam route to Ebron late in the game was a good example of the touch he CAN throw at.

He has a great arm.....it don't think it's a case of he only knows how to throw one way. When you have an cannon like he does......throwing hard is just the norm. It's his comfortable speed. I didn't see any visible evidence that he tried to put anything extra on the ball to CJ......he just throws hard.

My guess is .......just playing catch with Verlander will hurt your hand, too.

Has anyone ever heard of the concept of looking off a defender? Not staring into the intended targets eyes like he's at a middle school dance with his first crush?

Eh.......I don't see many skinny post routes "lofted" in there in the NFL.

Yes, a bit more touch would have been great given the results.......and the INT is most certainly on Stafford......I just don't think he expected Bruton to be where he was......so in THAT instance.....I don't mind the trajectory at all.

What the fuck are you talking about??

You never stare you're first crush in the eyes!!!!!

Middle school boys are way to shy!!!

Ok. Do that then. Collingsworth said it during the replay, the defender was taken right into the right spot by just following Stafford's gaze.

Yes. We are all aware of that.

He stared him down. The thought of throwing a ball over 7 yards made him giddy......he got a little excited.......his eyes busted a nut and the ball got picked.

I just Re-watched the play....I agree with you. I was thinking there was more distance between Bruton and CJ. Cj was only about 3-4 yards deeper than Bruton got his hands on it. I was thinking it was closer to 8-9 yards based on memory

Yeah, I think THAT particular play was more about not looking Bruton off than it was about trajectory.

Either way, it was 6 pts taken off the board......because there was nobody between Calvin and the end zone......and Talib was basically flat footed when CJ made his break.

It's all the little things this team does wrong. Some of them are simple mistakes that lead to a couple extra yards........some of them, like the INT, become HUGE plays. Think of it this way......lining up on the wrong side on the FG attempt and not looking off Bruton for JUST A SECOND costs us 10 points.

10!!!

Hopefully his return serves as a shot in the arm for the entire team. One can hope. Go Lions!!!
