Looks like they finally asked permission. I'm still not clear on the rules for playoff coaches. I read somewhere that they could not in any way talk to him until after the first round, and then they could ask, but I have also read contradictory reports.

Of course, if I am the Chargers GM, I say no, because I want my O-Coordinator focused on the next game, not on his next job. But I guess we will see.

I doubt the Chargers win this week but if they do it could make things interesting. We need to get a HC and staff hired. So if they keep winning do we wait for them to lose or do we move on and hire someone else. I do think Whisenhunt is the best available and they need to do what ever they need to for him to be our next coach.

They're allowed to talk for a few days between rounds, obviously not allowed to hire until the team is knocked out.

saw on hte lions facebook page that they recommend that the new HC keep both Washburns. do you agree?

You can interview now. Also I think it's a league policy that you can't prevent someone from getting an interview if it's a promotion.

Vikings, Titans and Redskins all requested too.

Also we requested to talk to Jay Gruden.

It's not policy but it is unwritten. McCoy said he's cool with the interviews during the week of prep because Fox allowed him to do it and that is how he got his job at SD. Ink, they can talk now, but can't hire until he's out.

If it's Wiz at HC they'll both be gone, whether the Lions Facebook page or anyone else for that matter thinks they should stay or not.

Jeremiah Washburn did a great job. But Russ Grimm is an Oline guru. I'll take that.

Oh okay. Thanks.

I agree he has done a great job but if Whisenhunt wants Russ Grimm then so be it. we better not let another team hire him before we do.

I believe we have the best job opening with the most game breaking talent. And we have an owner that stays out of the way.

also asked to talk to gruden....who has also earned it cause he won an arena league championship.

On my way home from work they reported on the radio that Jay Gruden said he didn't know if he would take the interview. So he's either being coy or a complete and asshole.

If they're set on the Wiz why bother.

When it's already been reported that the job is Wisenhunt's to lose, I am not sure I would take an interview with the Lions either, especially when other teams want to talk to me.

I sure wouldn't talk to the Lions first. No sense in giving a real perspective employer the idea that they might only be my second choice.
